Hunter.

Hunter.

Hunter.

This Hunter?

“From who?” I whispered, my pulse booming as all the pieces fell into place.

Those dark eyes bored into mine as he took a step closer to stop in front of me. He searched my gaze. “Riven, Kane, and Thomas,” he answered. “My brothers.”

TWO

Riven

The cold bite of the gun muzzle pressed against my head. “I’m sorry,” I whispered, staring at the billowing dust the truck Helene was in left behind. “I’m sorry.”

I’d killed us all…

Every.

Single.

One.

Of.

Us.

Crack!

I jumped, staring straight ahead, waiting for my turn to come.

Crack!

Crack…

CRACK!

“Get down!” Coulter’s gunman roared.

Everything moved in slow motion. Soldiers came from the trees…dressed in camouflage, wearing a familiar balaclava of terror to cover their faces. One I’d seen many times before.

Hunter was here.

I turned my head, ducking as Coulter’s men rushed forward behind us, firing back as they grabbed Coulter and dragged him back to safety.

“Riven?” Kane murmured, kneeling with his hands cuffed behind his back, staring as the soldiers invaded.

“Riven?” One of them barked. “Riven Cruz?”

“That’s me,” I answered as he hauled himself up onto the loading dock and his men followed. He looked at his team and nodded, motioning with two fingers to the door leading into the building. Then he turned his attention toward us. “Kane and…” He stared at Thomas. “The Priest.”

“Get us out of here!” Thomas barked, thrashing as he tried to free his hands.

The soldier motioned one of his men forward.

Snip.
