None of us did.

He couldn’t look at me, just shook his head. Whatever he saw on that screen rocked him in a way I’d never seen before.

“You.” The bitch wrenched her stare at me. “You want to see your sister and her babies?” She lifted the cell in her hand for us to see. “Then you’ll do exactly as I said.”

All I saw was the overhead view of a black four-wheel drive, the faint shadow of a man behind the wheel with a woman in the passenger’s seat.

“Fucking bitch.” London strode forward and lunged from the rear of the truck to land beside Hunter.

But Kyrell was already moving, drawing his gun and taking aim until he pressed the muzzle against London’s head.

“You can’t get to them.” London stared at the cell. “They’re too fast. They’ll outrun you.”

But she wasn’t shaken. “Let’s see if they can outrun a missile from one of our fighter pilots in the sky.

That stilled him.

So much so that the color drained from his face.

“No.” I shook my head. “No! You leave her alone. You leave all of them alone. You want me, right? That’s what you want. You want me, then here I am.”

“Helene, no.” Riven took a step forward, hitting Kyrell’s arm, forcing the muzzle of his gun to move from London’s head.

But there was no way out of this.

For my sisters, I’d endure anything.

“We want all the Daughters.” The woman turned her gaze to the front of the truck and gave a nod.

From the side, soldiers dressed in black came, two pointing guns at Nick and Tobias as they shielded my sister.

“I promise you no harm will come to them,” the bitch started. “Unless you force our hand. You don’t want to do that, do you, Helene?”

No.

No, I didn’t want to do that.

I swallowed hard and shook my head, taking a slow step forward.

“Helene,” Ryth called behind me.

I couldn’t stop, nor could I look at her. If I did, I’d crumble. So I stepped forward, bent, and gripped the edge of the truck, then jumped. “You leave my sister out of this.” I rose and met her stare. “Do you hear me? You leave my sister out of this.”

The bitch just smiled. “I’m afraid that can’t happen, Helene.”

One nod and her men rushed forward, lunging and jumping into the back of the truck.

Bang!

I jumped at the sound of the gunshot and stumbled to the side, watching as one of her men hit the floor. Tobias stepped forward, his savage gaze fixed on the man lying with a hole in his chest. “You lay a hand on her and you’re fucking dead.”

“WAIT!” The woman held up her hands. “Wait now! You won’t be harmed. My men are here to escort you, nothing more.”

“Then tell them to back the fuck up.” Tobias wrenched that savage glare her way. “Before I put a bullet in the next one.”

Nick was at his side.

“Easy.” She held up her hands, nodding at her men.
