I won’t fuck a woman who has another man on her mind—even if the said woman is attracted to me.

When I bury my cock deep inside her and claim her body for myself, the only man who must be on her mind is me.

Paige approaches me when I reach the door. The look on her face suggests she may have seen me kissing Luna. It’s entirely possible because the door was wide open.

“Everything okay?” she asks tentatively. In her hands is a large manila envelope.

“Yeah. Just sorting out a few things.”

She gives me a knowing smile which confirms she did see Luna and I kissing. Thank God I didn’t lose my mind completely and give in to the call of lust tempting me to sample the princess on the table.

“Let me know if there’s anything I can do. Luna just needs some time to get used to you, then I know she’ll be fine.” She sounds so confident I almost believe her.

“Yeah, maybe.”

“Just give it time, Hunter.” She taps my shoulder reassuringly.

Like many of my staff, she’s happy about my upcoming marriage even though she knows it’s arranged for business purposes.

Many of the people who work for me have known me since I was born. They’ve seen me grow up, go to college, step into the working world, and they’re about to witness me take the next step in life when I take a wife. They’re all like parents, which is probably why they’ve worked with my family for such a long time.

When Asher, Luc and I bought our homes, our parents gave us the staff who used to look after us as children. I was happy to get Paige but sometimes, like now, I wish she didn’t know me so well. It’s harder to place a wall between the people who care about me and become as detached as I need to be in this situation.

“This needs to be done by the end of next week.” She hands me the envelope. “It’s the marriage registration documents and the prenup. I spoke to Luna about it yesterday.”

“Thanks. I’ll sort it out.” I’ll be the first man in a long line of Le Blanches to have a prenup but it’s necessary, particularly because of the temporary nature of our union.

“I have everything else sorted out for the week.”

“Alright. See you in a few days.”

She dips her head and I leave.

With the taste of Luna Bianchi on my lips and the scent of her swimming in my veins I head to the garage, jump into my Bugatti and speed away to the sound of Nine Inch Nails blasting one of their oldest songs on the radio.

Being on the open road clears my mind somewhat but I’m still thinking about kissing Luna and all we said to each other.

I knew from the moment my lips touched hers that kissing her was going to shove me over the line I’ve been trying to keep drawn between us, but I did it anyway.

I’m not even sure what snapped in my mind to push me to do it. The mention of Alexis or Layla?

Hearing Luna talk about Alexis was weird, as if the universe was screwing with me even more. I never expected to hear my ex’s name on Luna’s lips.

Yesterday it was all over the tabloids that Alexis and Jackson’s divorce had been finalized. That’s why Luna said what she said, and thought I’d go running back to my ex. As fucking if.

I’d rather have my nuts frozen then bashed in with a baseball bat, but I suppose Luna would never guess that.

She seems to be jealous of Alexis, and she shouldn’t be.

Alexis may appear to be one of New York’s angels but she’s the same kind of masquerading devil that Dominic is.

I understand the envy, though. Alexis became the charity philanthropist, which is what Luna seems to want to do with her life too.

The media has made Alexis seem to be the poor wife who’s fighting to become some powerful woman now that she’s a single mother. They’re also taking the news of Jackson’s infidelity the whole nine yards to hell.

However, the truth on the grapevine is that Alexis cheated first—no surprise there. Jackson came home to surprise her one day, only to find his father in bed with her.

When I heard that I almost laughed at the irony that had come back to bite him in the ass. Except Jackson didn’t have to face the same aftermath I did from Alexis’ lies.
