“No. I’m kidding. I’m surprised you haven’t noticed that I smell like this at night, considering how many nights I’ve spent at your place. I even have a bottle of my bubble bath at your place.”

“Speaking of bath soaps,” she taps her chin. “I should probably follow you up to get it. Let’s go.”

I drag her back as she tries to walk away, cradling her head with one hand as the other keeps her firmly snug against my body.

“You’re not taking it back. I like the way my bathroom smells. I know you smell like this, but it’s been a long time since I have been able to get a good smell of you.”

“You missed me,” Harper leans in and whispers in my ear as she kisses the spot behind it. “Just say so.”

Chuckling, I kiss her forehead in return.

“You’re right. I’ve missed you terribly. At some point, I thought of ditching Caleb so I could come hang out with you.”

“You’ve spoiled me, Harper,” I add when she laughs softly. “I don’t enjoy anyone’s company but yours these days.”

Her fingers comb through my hair, and I sigh. Everything about Harper feels like the home I never really had. Her apartment, her kisses, the warmth of her body, and the gentleness with which she touches my hair.

“Does it make me a selfish person if I say I like it? That I want you all to myself?” She asks.

I shake my head, pulling back so she sees the truth in my eyes.

“No. It’s not selfish. I’ve told you I have feelings for you, Harper Quinn, and they run deep. Whatever you do now is endearing.”

Yes?

She dances away from me, picking up the flowers. I don’t get an answer from her, but I’m not anxious. There’s only one reason why two people would enjoy each other’s company so much and also have such an amazing sexual connection.

The way I feel for Harper is not one-sided. It’s just taking her more time to admit it. After all, I was the one who fell first.

I didn’t know that the smart-ass cybersecurity consultant wasn’t just burrowing her way under my skin, but she was digging her way into my heart, too.

By the time Harper got there, I didn’t want to let her go.

“They smell so good,” she sniffs. “You’ve done a good deed, Mr. Everhart.”

Then she drops the bouquet, takes a step forward, reaches high, and places a kiss on my lips. It’s a brief, sweet one that satiates and leaves me longing all at once.

“Do you want to stay and drink the wine with me?”

I shake my head.

“I should let you sleep. Why don’t we drink it tomorrow? I don’t want it to interfere with your beauty sleep.”

After she puts the bottle in the kitchen and the roses in a vase filled with water, Harper follows me to her door.

“How do you like my apartment?” She asks, holding the door open with one hand.

We’re so close that the only thing I’m looking at is her lips. I’m lost… contentedly lost in them.

“Gabriel?”

“Hmm?” I refocus.

“I missed you too,” Harper says before she puts her hands around my neck and touches her lips to mine. I give in immediately, my lips parting to embrace the kiss.

My hands go around her waist, and when I’m unable to help myself, I let them wander lower to cup her ass, squeezing them and sighing at the feeling.

We kiss passionately, and Harper’s back ends up pressed to the open door, her leg hooked over my waist as she grinds her hips against my crotch, making me hard.
