He puts in just the tip, but the sensation is everything. There are no words, just the need that builds up, the pleasure that hikes as he thrusts in again, and the eagerness with which my body accepts him.

My hands reach over my head to hold on to the edge of the desk as he thrusts slow but deep, filling every inch of me, finding new places to awaken. I wrap my legs around his waist, taking as much as I can, as much as he gives.

The sound of my thighs meeting his body, the thrusts, the moans and whimpers that leave my lips and his tight grunts fill his office, and I slap my hand over my mouth to stifle gasps when his thumb touches my clit, adding another layer of pleasure that envelopes around my body.

“Don’t,” Gabriel pulls my hand away. “I want to hear your moans. Your whimpers as I fuck you until you come.”

I nod, and he gives me a roguish grin before kicking it up a notch, pumping faster, deeper so that my body moves forward until my head is dangling off the other end of the desk and my mouth is hanging open in a soundless scream.

My climax comes like a tidal wave, without warning, ripping me apart and then throwing me over the precipice. I lay there, panting and spent like a wet noodle, until Gabriel pulls me up and cradles me in his arms.

“We should do this more often,” he kisses my hair.

I nod to agree.

“I think you whispered something about dying,” I say as my brain reminds me. “If I don’t…I might die,” I try to mimic his voice, and he bursts out laughing.

Then he gently disengages to look at me. His eyes are soft, yet intense. “I wasn’t lying. You’re everything I need, Harper Quinn. I want you to know that.”

“Ditto,” I wink.

“Ditto?”

My cheeks heat up. “It means I feel the same way.”

“Your cheeks—"

“Don’t point that out. Let’s just ignore that minor detail and get on with our lives, okay?”

Gabriel laughs at me, and then I join in the laughter. After a while, we both fall silent, staring at each other.

I love him.

And God, does it feel so right.

Chapter 26

Gabriel

"Have you seen Harper?” I ask Caleb when I find him outside in the hall.

The after-party is in full swing. The event was a success, and I’d promised to tell her something once I could get away from all the people.

He shakes his head. “Nope. I’m looking for Mira, too. Her art gallery thing was supposed to have ended hours ago. If I find Harper, I’ll let you know. Or I’ll send her your way.”

I give him a thumbs up. “Thanks.”

Caleb goes one way while I go the other. When I don’t find her, I redirect my attention to the flower path to the right.

I try calling her phone again and it makes the sound indicating that she’s on another call.

Who could she be talking to?

Mira, maybe?

Either way, I need to see her. I’ve waited weeks, and I can’t wait for the main event to end so I could get some time alone with her.

My hand goes into my pocket to make sure it’s still there and I smile, patting it. The small box has everything I need, but all that’s missing is the person in question.
