“I love you too,” I caress his face tenderly. “I love you, Gabriel.”

As soon as the words leave my lips, Gabriel sweeps me into a tender kiss. All the sorrow and regret of the past month melt away as I lose myself in the love between us once more. It feels like I never lost him, and that I actually gained something better.

When we part, he rests his forehead against mine, beaming joyfully.

“I’m officially the happiest man in the world,” he whispers.

“Good,” I grin. “Because I’m a lucky charm.”

“That you are, and oh,” he adds. “Before I forget.”

Gabriel reaches over to the table, picking up the little velvet box. My heart swells as he opens the lid to reveal a platinum ring decorated with a delicate floral motif. Small diamonds are set within etched vine-like engravings that twine around the band. It speaks of natural beauty and the intertwining of two lives.

“I wanted something special for you,” he murmurs. Then he takes my hand, his gaze filled with adoration and promise.

“Harper, this ring represents my eternal pledge to you. Will you make me the happiest man by becoming my wife?”

More tears of bliss spill down my cheeks as I nod eagerly. “Yes, I will.”

Gabriel slips the ring onto my finger, pulls me close, and kisses me deeply. The kiss is full of passion and commitment - a promise of the chapter unfolding for us.

“Cheers to the upcoming bride and groom!” Mira hoots and my cheeks flush when I turn to see everyone staring at us.

I’d forgotten about them. That’s what being with Gabriel feels like—the world is somewhere else, and it’s just us until we let others in.

He stands and pulls me into an embrace, and I hold on to him tightly, not from fear that something might happen again, but because my heart is overwhelmed with happiness, so much so that it might burst.

Then he whispers in my ear.

“I think we should ditch this party? What do you say?”

“Oh?” I raise a brow.

Gabriel winks. “Yup. I have a list of things I want to do with you, and I don’t think we have enough time.”

Oh, he knows how to say all the right things.

“Let’s go.”

“Sorry, everyone,” he announces, “but my fiancée and I have some…business to attend to.”

My cheeks are the shade of ripe tomatoes from the collective laughter, and Gabriel takes my hand, grabbing my bag in the other as we head out of the bar.

When we get to his car, he pins me against it and swoops in for a breathtaking kiss that leaves me clinging to him for support.

“That’s just a snippet, Miss Quinn.”

Oh, I like the sound of that.

“Bring it on, Mr. Everhart” I grin. “BRING IT ON.”
