Rolling my eyes, I quickly slapped her sore ass, making her jump and yelp. "You're the only one I've fucked dumb and taken over my knee like the little brat you are." I've had my fair share of partners, but the relationship was more of an exchange.

I've never been so emotionally involved or wanted to get emotionally involved with anyone until Hanna. Sex with my previous partners was just that, sex, a means to get things out. I've never been inclined much to drive my partner to the brink of insanity with pleasure like I do with Hanna, just enough orgasms to satisfy them.

It's also true that I've never taken anyone else over my knee. If I ever wanted to do some impact play, they were on the bed or bent over furniture. Having someone over my knee always felt a little too intimate for some odd reason.

Hanna's face slowly morphed into an angry pout. "Have you ever been anyone else's Daddy?" Her attempt to hide her jealousy was amusing and adorable.

"Oh, malenkaya," I said with a chuckle while stroking her stuck-out bottom lip with my thumb. "No, only you." I've always shoved that inkling of myself into the recesses of my mind, but it fast-tracked right to the forefront after finding out about Hanna's tastes.

"Hmp, good." Her pout lifted to a victorious smile that she tried to hide by tilting her head so her hair would cascade over her face.

"Maybe I should make you jealous some more, you're kinda cute jealous." Maybe that's why I liked to pick on her more often than not. Seeing her get riled up and pouty always made my chest feel light with butterflies.

"If you're prepared to hide bodies left and right then go for it." Her face sharpened with narrowed eyes full of playfulness.

Chuckling, I leaned in and gave her another full kiss with a quick slip of my tongue before pulling away, tugging her bottom lip with me and making it swell. "I'll never pay any attention to anyone else but you. I've got the perfect woman by my side. There's no point looking at trash when I've got the world's most precious treasure in my arms."

Chapter 33

Hanna

"You can't—Ange, you know damn well why I can't be involved with her."

My friend's face fell with an apologetic frown, "I know, and this wasn't easy for me to decide either, but you're the only person who can carry this assignment out successfully. I know your history with her, and if there was anyone else better, then I would go with them in a heartbeat. Please, you're the only one who can do this, the only one I trust to not fuck this up."

Clicking my tongue with a heavy sigh, I leaned back in my seat with my arms crossed. Running my tongue across my teeth, I let out another frustrated sigh. The tension from my clenched jaw threatened to shatter my teeth as my fists tightened painfully with my fingernails digging into my palm.

"Han—" Angel's hand reached across the table for mine, but I quickly slapped her hand away out of anger before abruptly standing up, knocking the chair over. "Ask me to jump over a cliff into a bottomless ravine, to jump out of an airplane with no parachute, down into a volcano, hell anything but this." My emotions were already storming at the mention of her name. "You know what she did to that little girl, what she made me witness." My mind threatened to pull me back to those dreadful moments, but I stood my ground with my rage to defy the pull.

I didn't shove Angel away this time when she got up, went over to me, and pulled me into a tight hug. "Then it's time for you to avenge that poor girl. We couldn't touch her before, but now we can. You and I both know it's only a matter of time before she flees because of the Qing Triad's disbandment. We need to end her now before she sets up operations elsewhere and ruins more lives. She's already ruined yours and that girl's. It's time you give her what she deserves for fucking your life up like that, for what she did to that girl."

Chuckling dryly, I pulled away to look at my friend with slight disbelief. "Aren't you supposed to be the one talking me out of all of that?" Sometimes, I forget how twisted Angel can be.

Although, ever since she married Nikolai and took her role as his bride seriously, she's changed—for the better, in my opinion. Angel had tried to leave the mafia life behind, to deny her true self, but Nikolai's brought it to the surface. She's truly the mafia queen she has always meant to be now.

"Please, I need to sit on it." Though I had a good idea of what my answer would be either way, maybe some time would make it change.

"I wish I could tell you to take all the time you need, but…" Angel gave me a sad smile before sitting down with a wince and a hand on her growing stomach.

"I know, we don't have the time. I won't take long, promise, I just need to process it before seeing if it's something I can commit to." I had to talk to Stepan about all of it, get his input, and see if it would help my decision any.

Squatting down, I hovered my face with Angel's stomach. "You two quit bugging your mom, she already has to put up with your dad and so much more shit right now."

It'd been about a month since we'd executed our plan to take down Angel's stepmother. Angel had taken up the mantle of Dragon Head and merged the triad with the Volkov Bratva, putting everything under Nikolai's rule before disbanding the triad. Although we'd successfully shut down Lady Qing and her black-market auction, her partners were still at large. And we won't stop until all of them—Lilian Wu, Ramon Cortez, and Ivan Petrov—were all taken down fully.

Although Nikolai and his brothers handled most of the merge and all the stress that came with it, Angel refused to take the backseat. Even if she was over two months pregnant with their twins, she still partook in mafia matters as if she wasn't, which stressed Nikolai out more often than not.

I wondered if Stepan ever stressed out about me like that. I was a capable woman; he knew how well I could handle myself. Yet, a part of me wondered if he cared for me deeply enough to have some unconscious or instinctual worry for my safety. Was I that important for him to worry?

"Lisichka? Everything alright? Do you need me to get you something? Do I need to call the doctor or Alexei?" Speaking of her worrywart of a husband, the bratva brute appears and instantly wraps his arms protectively around his wife.

"If you can get him to get off my ass then I'll forget about asking you to handle Lilian." Angel joked with a slight roll of her eyes before looking up at her husband lovingly.

"Don't know if that assignment would be worse or not." I joked back with a dry chuckle, pushing myself upright again. "Well, I'll leave you two lovebirds alone, I gotta head into the office for work soon anyways."

"How are you and Stepan by the way?" Angel asked with a teasing smirk, giving me her curious and playful eyes.

"Well, if you'd stop telling him shit about me then I'd much appreciate it. I still haven't picked your bones about letting him know about my burns." I hadn't brought the question back up with Stepan since that night, and maybe I should for a straight answer instead of assuming Angel told him. But I settled for the latter because it was the only possible option.
