“I... I don’t really remember much,” she admits, her voice tinged with unease. “Just bits and pieces. Why? Did something happen?”

I nod, my expression grim. “Minny, something happened at the club.”

Her eyes widen in alarm as she sits up fully awake now, her tousled hair falling around her face. “What do you mean? We... we didn’t do anything illegal or dangerous, did we?” Minny asks hesitantly, her knuckles white as she clutches at the edge of the couch.

I shake my head, relieved to be able to offer some reassurance. “We were drugged.” My voice is steady despite the knot of unease tightening in my stomach.

Minny blinks, her eyes widening in shock. “Drugged? Are you serious?”

I nod solemnly, my gaze fixed on her face. “Yeah. Thor said it was the guys at the bar.”

“Who the hell is Thor?”

“The guy I woke up next to this morning.”

Minny throws her hand up. “Wait. You’re going to have to say that again. You woke up next to a man this morning named Thor?”

“I know, it sounds ridiculous. Believe me. I think it sounds ridiculous.” My hands fall to my hips as I let out a slow breath. “But it’s true. Thor saw one of the guys dose our drinks and stopped me from drinking it. Turns out, they may have dosed our cocktails because not long after he stepped in, I blacked out. He carried me back here, and then you passed out on the couch.” Everything comes out fast. The words jumble together as I word vomit the story.

Minny’s eyes widen even further, disbelief etched across her face. “So let me get this straight,” she says, her voice tinged with confusion and disbelief. “We were drugged, and Thor… some random guy you woke up next to saved us from whatever those guys had planned?”

I nod, my heart pounding in my chest. “Yes, Minny. It’s insane, I know, but that’s what happened.”

“Why us? It doesn’t make sense. Of all the people they could have drugged, why two women in their early thirties?”

“I don’t know, but they did.”

She falls silent for a moment, processing the information. Slowly, she rises from the couch and walks over to the kitchen counter, leaning against it for support. Her fingers tap against the marble surface as she takes deep breaths.

“This Thor guy. Are you sure he wasn’t him? I mean, he ended up back here in your bed. Seems a pretty convenient situation if I drugged a woman, had my way with her, and didn’t leave before she woke up.”

“He didn’t have his way with me.” I shake my head. “Thor seemed genuinely concerned for our safety.”

“If you were blacked out, and I was blacked out, who changed your clothes?”

I peer down at my T-shirt, Minny’s words setting in. Did he do that? Did I?

“I can’t wrap my head around it, but I’m glad he was there to help us.” Minny’s expression shifts from disbelief to gratitude, mixed with a hint of curiosity. “We need to find him and thank him,” she says, determination shining in her eyes.

“That’s not going to be a problem,” I admit. “I may have agreed to dinner with him tonight.”

“Dinner? Just the two of you?” she asks, her voice laced with amusement and curiosity.

I nod, feeling a flush creep up my cheeks. “Yeah, he kind of insisted. I bet he won’t mind if you come along too.”

“He insisted, huh?” Minny smirks mischievously, leaning against the counter. “Well, well, well. Looks like someone made quite an impression on you.” She wiggles her eyebrows suggestively, causing me to playfully roll my eyes.

“It’s not like that,” I protest, though my cheeks grow hotter. “I barely know him. I just want to thank him properly for helping us.”

“Sure, sure,” Minny says with a knowing grin. “Well, you better make sure he knows it’s just a thank-you dinner and not some romantic date.”

“I will,” I assure her, but deep down, I can’t help but wonder if there might be something more between Thor and me. The way he looked at me when I woke up and the concern in his eyes made me feel safe and cared for in a way I hadn’t felt in a long time.

“What are you going to wear?”

“I have no idea,” I admit.

“Then we need to go shopping.”
