“You’ll forever be mine.” His deep grumble heats my face as he speaks close to my ear.

“You lost me when you left, Brady. You don’t get to claim anything.” My breathy response frustrates me even further.

“Say my name again.”

“No.”

“Haddie. Say my fucking name again.” He rubs his hands over my hips, pulling me close enough that I can feel his hard on pressing into my ass. Close enough to tempt me to fall right back into his arms and act like none of the past has been torturing me for years. I take a deep breath, close my eyes and say his name in the only way he deserves it to be said.

“Eat a dick, Brady.”

I find the nearest bathroom and lock myself in until Emma knocks in her usual pattern so that I know it’s her. Emma already knows what is happening without me telling her any of it. “He tried to talk to you. Tried to fuck you and you wanted no part of it. I get it girl, let me see if Slade is good to go somewhere else. Maybe we can go to a bar or something if he’s up for it.”

“I don’t want to ruin your night with your brother. You haven’t seen him in forever. Let me just go home.”

“No way and you won’t, I’ll have him come with us. Stay right here and I’ll be back to get you.” She slips out the bathroom door and I rush to lock it before Brady slips his way back into my space.

The mirror proves what I was afraid of. My face is flushed and I look like hell. Not that I’m saying I looked good when we arrived but I’m definitely not hiding how flustered Brady has me.

“Ok, he said he’d take us to an old bar called Bud’s Bar that’s not too far away. I guess some of them were already planning to go there… but don’t worry, I told him to make Brady get lost. Of course, he started quizzing me about what your connection with Brady is, so I pretended like you were yelling for me.” Emma is talking a mile a minute as I open the door during the middle of her ramblings.

“You know he will be there.” She closes the door behind her once she slips inside the room with me.

“We both know Brady. If he wants to see you… he will find you. It may as well be in a bar full of people rather than at your place later tonight.” She’s right. Dammit to hell. There was a day I wanted to see him. I needed to know what made him just leave without a word. Was it something I did? Was he running from something or someone like my mind pretended to make the heartbreak a little easier.

Maybe I do need to talk to him and get some closure. It might be the exact thing my heart needs to move on from the past that has haunted my every relationship.

“I’m going to need more shots and for you to never leave my side. Not one time.” I glare into Emma’s eyes just to show her how serious I am.

“Promise.”

CHAPTER 3

HADLEE

This little bar is full of all of Slade’s friends and the women they brought in. That’s it. The four couples that were here when we got here all disappeared within minutes of us arriving. We’ve done nothing but move the party to a different location.

The music is older here. Classic rock songs echo through the old rustic bar while two older women run the bar and I’m assuming ol’ Bud is the old man who is now drinking with Slade and his friends. Emma and I have been throwing darts at a board as opposed to playing darts. Hitting the target is probably necessary to call it that.

I’ve been downing shots and sipping on a beer since we got here, constantly watching over my shoulder to see if Brady will ever show up. “One of you want to sing? We can turn this old karaoke machine on if you want.” One of the bartenders walks up with a mic, handing it to Emma. She doesn’t hesitate, hopping up on their tiny little stage to be front and center in a room full of bikers. I glance around the room and notice nearly all of them are watching her. I know most of them are interested but apparently Slade warning them all off has kept them from interacting with either of us this entire night. Well… with the exception of Brady. The rules never applied to him in the past either.

A Guns N Roses song comes on, so I lean back against the wall and wait for her to begin to sing. There’s not a chance in hell that I’m getting up there. I’m not sure of the name of the song, but it’s just getting started when I notice Brady walking in through the back door. He has his arm resting on a girl’s shoulder as they both prance their way into the bar. Her big, half-exposed tits piss me off, even though I have absolutely no right to be upset over this bimbo leaning into him.

They both laugh as they reach the bar and I want to run straight back to my bed and hide for another week. Fuck this day.

I’m still staring in their direction when I feel a tug on the side of my jeans pocket. I look up to see Slade scowling down at me. “Quit wasting time. You’re better than the bullshit, Hads.” He tugs me away from my standing position and leads me across the room before he pulls me down into his lap. I’m stiff at first until he wraps both of his arms around me and pulls me back against his chest. “Remember your purpose here tonight. You want to forget. Fuck away all of the tough times. Brady isn’t going to make you forget.” I nod, knowing he’s right even though my eyes are still wondering in his direction.

“I wish it was that easy.”

“It is. Just say the word and I’ll make you forget everything you ever thought you knew.” I sit up quickly and shift so that I’m able to look at Slade in the face. We’ve always joked around with each other over the years but this feels like more than the usual teasing. His lingering hand between my knees and the other one on my lower back confirm that I’m not crazy. All of the guys that were hanging out in this little corner of the bar begin to move away one by one until we’re practically sitting by ourselves.

“What are you doing?” I don’t move to push him away, only look him right in the eyes to see why he’s trying this stunt this on me.

“Whatever you want. You want to stay right here and make that fuckface jealous… we will. I can fuck you against that pool table right there. I can fuck you against the wall or hell, even right here in this chair. You want to get on the back of my bike and disappear from all of this… we’ll be long gone before this song is even over.” He takes a swig of his beer so casually as if he hasn’t just whispered mind-blowing shit to me. I watch the seriousness in his face, looking for any sign of a smile that he’s testing me or something. When nothing comes, I start to contemplate the idea of allowing myself to go there with Slade.

“What about Emma?”
