She lets a soft gasp slip free and bites her lip, her eyes fluttering shut as her forehead wrinkles in concentration. Slowly, I increase the pressure, my fingers darting in and out of her slick folds, teasing her sensitive clit with every movement. Her body begins to convulse beneath my touch, her low moans egging me to keep going until she comes all over my hand. I can feel the tension building between us, and I know that she's close; hell, I am and I'm not even touching myself.

She moans softly as my fingers continue to explore her, her excitement growing with each touch. Her heat and pent-up desires match my own. "Do you want me to stop?" I whisper, my voice so low and husky it sounds more feral than man. She shakes her head, her lips parting in a silent plea for more.

As my fingers find her clit again, she gasps, her body arching into my touch. I circle it gently, teasing her, making her say my name. She follows with, "Oh God, yes," her voice filled with need. As I dip my fingers into Allison's wetness, my heart thuds wildly against my chest. Her body trembles with her impending release while her broken moans grow louder with each thrust of my fingers. Her breathing quickens, and in the next beat, her pussy clamps down hard around my fingers, milking the digits for everything she can. Her body pitches forward, her hands bracing on the counter to hold herself up as her legs shake, and she comes. Hard.

“Perfection,” I murmur as I slip my fingers free, bringing them to my mouth. I suck her juices, greedily taking my reward for bringing her pleasure. I can’t wait to feast on this sweet pussy and have her come all over my face. That will be the next best fucking day of my life.

There’s no doubt in my mind this woman is meant to be mine.

CHAPTER 8

ZEUS

Oh. My. God.

The man played my body like a guitar, strumming me to his tune until I exploded for him, and I’m shook. He’s come into my life and turned my world upside down, from listening to me when I need a friend, to supporting me, to pleasuring me to the point I wonder if I ever really enjoyed touch before he came along.

“Dinner’s done, sweetheart, but first I want you to take a bite of this strawberry and tell me if I did alright.” Zeus holds the oversized berry covered in a hard chocolate shell to my lips. Its light brown coating has white chocolate drizzled on top as well. They look a hot mess, so I know he really did make them and didn’t buy them, which only makes the notion that much more special. I’ve never had a man go to these lengths to make me feel special. Sure, Mike bought me flowers and gifts and took me to dinner when we were in love, but he never spent the time to actually make me something or try to feed me.

My teeth sink into the strawberry, the juices running over my lips and chin, making me gasp and laugh. He wears a wide grin, looking proud at the mess I’ve made. “So good!” I manage around chewing without showing him a mouth full. Not that I think he’d mind, because I have a feeling he’s the type of man who could care less about manners when trying to be intimate like this. He’s feeding me and it’s turning me on. I can’t stop from squeezing my thighs together, making my clit throb again after my intense orgasm. “I love them. I still can’t believe you went to this much trouble for us.”

“Well, believe it. Also, get used to it, because I plan to show you you’re special to me all the time.”

My lip trembles as tears threaten to fill my eyes. “You’re too good to be true,” I admit softly. Rather than replying, he tugs me into his firm chest, wrapping his strong arms around me in an encompassing hug. The sensation his hold elicits is not only comfort but warmth and safety.

He makes me feel safe to the point I actually trust him. I thought I’d never be able to trust another man again after what I went through with Mike, but Zeus has this way of making me feel like I’m the only person in the room, the only one he desires, and it’s one heck of a powerful feeling.

“Come on, let’s eat.” He tugs my hand, leading me outside. There’s a big picnic table already set, and on each plate is one of those cheesy hearts full of assorted chocolates. Above the table are red and pink heart twinkle lights strung just high enough to not hit our heads on. It’s the sweetest gesture, and it instantly makes me fall a little harder for him. I thank him, and he kisses the top of my hand, sending an electric current through me that has goosebumps peppering down my spine. This thing between us has awakened me in ways I could never have imagined, and I am grateful for the way it has enveloped me, making me feel appreciated and desired.

“Kids, dinner is done!” he shouts and the two come racing to the table, full of giggles, and I swear even their eyes are smiling. As we sit down to eat, Zeus reaches for my thigh under the table and gives it a gentle squeeze. There’s this underlying link between us, a recognition of the new and exciting life in my future. “This is your spot, Tanzanite.” He gestures and her mouth pops open.

“This is for me?” she asks, holding up the small heart necklace on a leather cord and her candy filled heart.

“Yes. I asked Josiah to help me figure out something you might like. Happy Valentine’s, sweetie.”

Her gaze meets mine, and I nod, offering her a smile that I hope she takes as me silently telling her it’s okay to have it. Grabbing the necklace, she jumps from her spot and in the next blink has her arms wrapped around Zeus. “Thank you, I love it!” she says, beaming a wide smile. “Will you please help me with it?”

He glances at me, and I do the same, nodding permission. I love it that he respects me enough to seek my approval before interacting with her on that level. I watch, my heart feeling fuller than it’s been in a very long time, as he puts the cord over her head and moves her hair back in place. “The necklace is lucky to have you, you make it look beautiful.”

It takes everything in me not to stutter like a bumbling idiot at his compliment. He didn’t compliment the necklace on her but rather, he told her she makes it look beautiful. He’s building her inner confidence, and it’s what every little girl needs in a father, someone to help make her become strong inside and feel like she’s the bravest, smartest, prettiest little girl in the world.

I mouth, “Thank you,” to him and he sends me a grin as Tanny takes her seat again. She immediately begins chattering to Josiah like he’s her new best friend, and I find myself hoping he is her next lifelong friend. We can never have too many good people in our lives, and at this point, with all the changes happening, I see it more than ever. Zeus has created a magical atmosphere filled with laughter, love, and the sweet scent of delicious food.

I can’t help but notice how at ease Zeus is around the children, how easily they seem to gravitate towards him and his approval. It’s clear to me now that he’s not just a good father, but a friend, confidant, and protector. He has my heart swelling with pride and happiness as I watch his bond with Tanny grow stronger in each passing moment.

With the impending storm Tanny is no doubt facing, she’ll need all the support she can find. Something in my gut tells me Zeus and Josiah may be exactly what she needs to pull her out of it in the future, to make her feel the love and commitment she truly deserves but doesn’t receive from her father.

As the sun dips below the horizon, the twinkling heart lights above us cast a soft glow over the table, creating an enchanting atmosphere that makes the evening feel like my very own fairy tale. We dig into the delicious dinner, and there’s a comfortable silence that permeates the air as we savor each bite. It’s a moment I imprint in my mind, knowing that these happy, fulfilled times have been rare in my life, but they’re moments I cherish most and will hold onto for dear life.

Later, after we’ve gathered around the fire pit, each wrapped in blankets to make smores, we carry the sleeping kids back inside. They’d fallen asleep after playing all evening, eating their fill, and then getting a sugar overload at the end of the night, at which Tanny declared it needed to be made into a weekly thing.

“Thank you for today,” I murmur after he places a sleepy Tanny in the backseat of my SUV. He buckles her in, gently closing the door. Her head lays against the window as she passes back out. My daughter got a lot of exercise today so she’s not even attempting to fight the sleep to stay up late. "It was perfect," my tone is filled with gratitude.

Zeus meets my gaze, his eyes reflecting the same emotions as mine. "It's been a pleasure planning this for you," he replies. "Honestly, I had fun doing it. I'm glad you had a good time. I hope Tanzanite did too."

“Are you kidding? I think you’re her new hero. I hope that doesn’t scare you. With this divorce, she may need you more than what’s normal, or who knows, she may be sad around you because, let’s face it, you’re a wonderful father. Josiah is lucky you’re in his life.”

“I feel the same way about you, you’re an amazing mom. Josiah never had anyone like you either.”

“You don’t think this is too fast? That we’re moving at warp speed and need to slow down? I can’t handle getting hurt again.” We share a knowing look, both of us caught up in the significance of this day and the steps we're taking together. It's moments like these that make me feel as if I've entered a world filled with endless possibilities and it’s both exciting and terrifying.

As we stand outside my SUV, the cool night breeze sends his scent in my direction, enveloping me in his woodsy smell, and the weight of my emotions surge within me. Zeus and I share a brief, tender kiss that leaves us both breathless. He leans in to softly promise, “We’ll take things at our own pace. We won’t rush into anything that isn’t meant to be. So far, it feels as easy as breathing with you. Let's enjoy the moments we have together and let it guide us, but if you’re waiting on me to get scared or back down, it’s not going to happen. I want you, Allison, more than you can imagine."

I nod in agreement, knowing that he's right. We're both taking a chance on love, and it's up to us to make it work. As we finally break apart, he covers my hands with his and says, "I'm here for you and for Tanzanite. No matter what comes our way, we'll face it together."

With those words ringing in my ears, I know I will be okay, that we’ll be okay. I wasn’t looking for Zeus when I found him, but something sent him to me when I needed him the most. Was it the universe? Probably not. Was it my soul calling to his? I’d bet money on it.

Because this feeling can’t be nothing, when it feels like absolutely everything.
