“Finally,” Lathan grumbles as we enter the room. The other six are all there with beers and sodas in front of them. There is a spare beer for me, and one of each type for Kenzie to choose from. She gives Dayton a kiss on the cheek when she selects the soda.

“We need to make this quick. It’s getting late, and Mac can’t be late again. Martha almost had a meltdown last night,” Miller warns, crossing his arms. He is sitting apart from Ry, which is telling.

Usually the two of them are glued to each other in private during a mission. Miller’s anxiety levels sometimes get the better of him, and Ry soothes all his rough edges. I guess they are fighting over something, and I can pretty much guarantee it’s the beautiful woman in the room. My brother is such a shit stirrer. I know he loves his partner, but they have also wanted a female in their relationship for a while. While I’m not sure forcing Miller to accept Kenzie is the way to get what he wants, it’s certainly amusing seeing Miller flounder. Lathan was so right when he said that Kenzie and Miller are similar. Even though he has his personal issues, he is an amazing fucking agent who isn’t afraid to do anything to get the job done.

“This is what I caught on camera today. Bishop doesn’t know they are there.” Lathan presses a key, and a video starts playing.

We gather around so we can all see the screen, much like last night, but Mac and I are behind the couch, and she bumps my hip before leaning against me, getting comfortable. I throw an arm around her shoulders, marveling at how right this all feels. It’s kind of natural, and Mac seems to feel it too, even though when the guys returned, they told us she didn’t want this any more than we did. It’s good to see we can admit we were wrong.

We watch as Bishop slams into the locker room, picks up a football helmet, and throws it against one of the lockers. “Fucking slut whore,” he shouts, and Mac snorts.

“Is he talking about me? Man, I really have put a bug up his ass about something. Has he treated all the female agents you tried like that?”

“We’ve only had one try since he’s been with us, and no, they were fucking like rabbits,” Anders says dryly, not taking his eyes off the footage.

“It does seem a little extreme to me.” My brother leans in. “He’s really losing his shit. Did anything happen between the two of you?” he asks Mac, who quickly shakes her head.

“No, unless you count me dropping him during your test,” she replies, and Dayton nods slowly.

“You know, that may be enough. He’s misogynistic, and his ego is fragile enough for him to be upset about being beaten by a girl.”

He slams around the locker room, really taking out his aggression on the equipment. Not five minutes later, Billy follows him in. “Hey, are you okay?” My eyebrows jump at Billy’s concern, and I see Bishop react the same way.

“What the fuck do you care?”

“Well, you seem to be wound up, and I hate to see my football player like that. It doesn’t work on the field if we’re all blocked, if you know what I mean.” Billy is vague, and I see Bishop shake his head.

“No, I don’t know what you mean.”

“Well, there seems to be some pent-up tension within you. You obviously don’t like the family you are staying with. I was just going to offer you an outlet for some of that aggression.”

Bishop stops slinging stuff around and tilts his head. “I would have thought you would want aggression on the football field.”

Billy grins. “Well, yeah, but not this kind. Your mind isn’t on the game. What would you say if I offered you a little way to blow off some steam so you could get rid of some of your tension and focus on winning?” He’s vague, but Bishop takes the offer.

“I’d say I was listening.”

“There’s a party on Friday night, and we have something that can make the girls very friendly. If you wanted to take your anger out on the new goth girl, well, I can guarantee she’ll cooperate, and no one will think anything of it because she’s literally a whore. You just have to make sure you dispose of the body when you’re done.”

“Holy fuck!” The whisper slips out as we wait for Bishop’s reaction.

He thinks about it for a moment. We can see him running it over in his head before a smile slips across his lips. “It sounds like you may have the answer to all my needs.” He holds out his hand, and they shake. Lathan turns the video off.

“Does anyone else get the feeling that Bishop wasn’t acting?” Dayton asks slowly after a moment of digesting what we just saw.

“I do.” Mac puts her hand up and wrinkles her nose. “I can’t believe that asshole. Now I have to worry about date rape on top of kidnapping and sex trafficking.”

“We won’t let it get that far,” I assure her, “and let’s wait until he gets home. If he tells us about it, then he’s still fully involved in this mission, and if he doesn’t, then we know he’s gone rogue and he will have to be dealt with.”

“Dibs.” Mac’s and Miller’s voices mix together as they both volunteer to make sure a rogue agent gets put down.

“Let’s just wait. I still have my doubts. This may be another angle he’s decided to work, because date rape drugs sound like something a sex trafficking ring may have a hand in. Billy is looking like another link,” I tell them.

“That’s no surprise considering who his dad is. I’m going to do a little search of the county morgues to see how many other rape victims turn up. It sounds like the football team has quite the scam going on.” Lathan’s fingers fly across his trusty keyboard.

“Hey, Dayton, can you grab your bag out of the car? I need to get dressed again so I can get home for dinner. I also kind of don’t want to be here when Bishop gets home. I’m not sure I could look him in the eye without killing him,” Mac requests.

Dayton gets up and grabs his duffle bag that he left next to the door and hands her a pile of clothes. She doesn’t even wait to strip and put the old ones back on. The room is silent as we’re mesmerized by Mac, but we quickly snap out of it when she picks up my shirt and hands it to me.
