Sweat breaks out across my brow, slides down my temple and into my flushed cheeks. I gasp for air, feeling every muscle in my body tense as he takes me to the brink of ecstasy.

The tension in my core coils tighter as he continues worshiping me with his talented digit and tongue.

Fingers interlacing with mine, he quickens his pace and says, “Come for me, baby.”

My back arches against the rocking chair and I cry out with the force of my climax. Stars dance behind my closed eyelids, and his name rushes from my lips.

Somewhere on the edge of my consciousness, I hear Roman groan through his own orgasm as he continues lavishing my clit through mine. He draws out the pleasure as I fall limp against my seat. Pleasant aftershocks ripple through my core, building in intensity until they become unbearable.

“Roman,” I say through clenched teeth.

He draws back, his hooded eyes meeting mine with a dreamy smile. “I love you more than words can express, baby.”

“Roman.” My voice sharpens as the pleasure morphs into pain.

His smile falters. “Emberly, what’s wrong?”

“Fucking hell. I’m having contractions!”

His eyes widen. “Are you sure?”

I laugh so hard that I can barely breathe. “The baby. We’re about to meet our son.”

EPILOGUE

TWO DAYS LATER

EMBERLY

I sit in the back of the limousine, snuggled up to Roman’s side. Our baby sleeps in my arms, swaddled in a cashmere blanket. Strands of black hair peek out from beneath his little blue bonnet and my heart warms at the sight.

“Paulo awake yet?” Roman asks.

“Newborns are asleep more hours than they’re awake,” I say with a smile.

He plants a kiss on my temple. “How are you doing?” he asks, his voice low. “You had a rough time back there.”

I tilt my head and let him kiss me on the lips. “The labor could have been worse, but I had the best birthing partner.”

His gaze softens and the arm around my shoulder tightens. All those sessions Roman had with Lily and me, learning how to assist me during labor, and it paid off.

He held my hand, massaged my aches and agonies, and coached me through the breathing when all I wanted to do was push. When the doctors were being a pain in the ass and underestimating my progress, Roman was the one who made them listen to my needs.

I’m so thankful that I got through childbirth without needing much medical intervention or even stitches. It was the most painful and beautiful experience of my existence, and I’m glad he was at my side.

“Thank you for my son,” he murmurs.

“Thank you for looking out for me,” I reply.

I’ve had time to think through my situation. Jim wanted to reclaim me because I’d inherited a fortune. He would have kept me as his cash cow until he gained control of my assets. I seriously doubt that he and his dad would have allowed me to live long enough to enjoy my money.

Tommy Galliano was the next in line to inherit my biological father’s estate. If he had found me before Roman did, then he would have put a bullet through my head. In his own way, Roman saved me from two terrible fates. He may have arranged the death of all my blood relatives, but he’s also given me a family.

My cousin is dead. Days after Roman rescued me from that balcony, he brought me to a basement in his mansion, where the brothers were keeping Tommy alive to make him suffer for the death of their mother.

Tommy revealed that my biological dad had planned on discarding Mom to one of his brothels when he discovered she was pregnant. My mom escaped after one of her doctor’s appointments and never stopped running.
