They flew into the night, with Killen’s arms banded around Sana’a, his wings providing lift.

The moon, so bright this night, streaked the sky with silver swathes of light.

The air was thick with the song of chirping insects and rustling leaves.

A gossamer-like illumination danced through tree branches and skipped over Karth’s mountain peaks on the horizon.

After flying for some time, Killen paused. ‘Would you look at this freakin’ view?’

He unfurled his mighty rachís, turning her back to his chest.

Below them was a dell, white as snow, with lucid-like shrubs and trees lying in a glistening sloping cliff.

Even in the pale moonlight, the canyon sparkled and glistened, the ground resembling a lustrous maze of jagged crystals.

The towering cliffs on either side were made of smooth, glittering krustallos, reflecting every colour of the rainbow. Crystal-clear streams run through the ravine, mirroring the surrounding beauty.

‘They call this the Glass Valley,’ Killen murmured.

An aching pulsed in her soul. ‘This reminds me so much of The Seven Wonders of Shotelai. My home.’

Her last words were tremulous, a whisper, as tears edged from the corner of her eyes.

She dashed them away and turned to find Killen’s eyes on her.

Warm, caring, fokkin’ lighting her up. ‘K’hanys.’

His rasp cut through her sorrow with such that she lifted a hand to counter its force. ‘Don’t.’

Otherwise, she’d crumble and implode.

She tried to turn away, but he raised his enormous hand to tilt her chin so she could not evade his gaze.

‘What do you want from me?’ she whispered, breath ragged, eyes locked on his hands and their heated connection.

‘This.’

He leaned forward and tagged a hand behind her neck.

He kissed her, his lips soft, plaint, searching.

She gave in, unable to resist him, it, them, any longer.

He sensed her surrender, and with a growl of victory, he lifted her into his arms.

Soaring into the sky once more, he tracked a short distance towards the hillside overlooking the valley.

Nestled within the cliff was a cave, a gaping maw of shadow.

It beckoned like a seductress with promises of riddles and mysteries waiting to be uncovered.

The trees that hugged its mouth whispered ancient secrets, their leaves rustling with the knowledge of ages. The air around it was heavy with the weight of forgotten powers and the echoes of long-gone battles.

Inside, it appeared like a hollowed-out pearl. Its white stone walls gleamed with a delicate opalescence that illuminated from within.

The surfaces were adorned with intricate carvings and runes

The cave roof was high and curved, creating a natural dome-like structure. Shadows danced on all facets, created by the subdued light filtering through the trees.
