“Does it involve me untying your robe?”
He reached for the knot, but I stopped him. “Not yet.”
“Alright.”
I wasn’t nervous. I couldn’t wait any longer. Reaching into the pocket of my robe, I pulled out a familiar silver band ring.
He grinned, noticing what it was.
I grabbed his left hand. Not once had he taken it off.
“Here,” I stated, handing it back to him.
He narrowed his eyes, and for a moment, I saw literal panic strike him in a second.
“Relax. I said this was good things.”
His tension lessened.
“I want you to give it to me on our wedding day.”
He jerked back, caught off guard.
“Because I do want to marry you. I do want to have your babies. I do want a future with you. I do want to become Mrs. Sinclair, and most importantly, I do love you…” Tears formed in my eyes. “I’ve always loved you. I never stopped. Not for one second of any day from the first moment I laid eyes on you in our first college classroom. You mean everything to me, and I hate that we lost so much time together, but I know we’ll more than make up for it.”
“Beauty…” His eyes got glossy.
“I love you, Elias Sinclair. I’m so madly, breathlessly, and completely in love with you, and I can’t wait to start our lives together even though we already had these past six weeks. Despite all the turmoil, I haven’t been this happy since before you moved away.”
“Capri, you know?—”
“I know. I don’t need to hear you say anything else. I know it all. I’ve always known it. Can you forgive me? I never meant to hurt you either. I just… everything became so much more than us back then, and if I could go back, I would have moved with you. I should have… I regret not going. It wasn’t all your fault. I need you to know that too.”
He gripped the back of my neck, pulling me toward him. “I love you.”
“I love you.”
We kissed and kissed and kissed some more until he was untying my robe.
“Make love to me,” I rasped into his mouth.
He didn’t have to be told twice. “Does my beauty want to come?”
“Yes…”
“Should I let you come?”
“Yes…”
“Why should I let you come?”
“Because I love you.”
“Well, who the hell can say no to that?”
