She lifted her eyes to mine a moment later. “That’s your best line?”

I knew for a fact it was a good line.

“You have a beautiful smile,” she said, reading my note aloud. “I’d love to see it in person sometime. Maybe over dinner?”

I knew what it said. What I didn’t know was whether she’d bite.

“That’s Quinn Draper’s best Tinder line?!”

“You seem surprised.”

“I am.”

“Why?” I asked, narrowing my eyes as I cocked my head at her.

“Well, for one thing, it’s surprisingly uncreepy.”

My brows lifted.

“Not that you’re a creep,” she said. “I just mean for Tinder it’s so…normal.”

“I like to stand out.”

She glanced between me and her phone, like she couldn’t quite believe I was the author of the message.

“Well?”

“Well what?”

I licked my teeth. “Are you going to answer?”

“Wouldn’t want to seem too eager,” she said, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

My bottom lip jutted out. “Fair enough.”

“There’s an etiquette to these things.”

“So I’ve heard.”

She shifted her weight, lingering in the doorway like she’d done in Alicia’s bathroom. “James would kill you, you know? If you actually took me to dinner.”

“No,” I said, fixing my eyes on hers as my lower body boiled. “It’s taking you for dessert that he’d kill me for.”

She swallowed and stared back at me through wide eyes.

“Is there something else you need?” I asked, realizing my body had started to get untimely ideas. “Because I was sort of in the middle of something when you knocked,” I said, hoping she would take a hint as I reached for my book.

“It was an accident,” she repeated with even less conviction than before. “I just wanted you to know so things don’t get weird.”

“Guess I’ll see you around then.” I picked up my book and pretended to start reading even though I couldn’t concentrate with her watching me from across the room. All I could do was wonder what other happy accidents might be lying in wait for us…

Her accidentally falling into my arms, for example. Her accidentally laughing at my jokes. Accidentally touching herself to thoughts of me. Accidentally getting naked and sitting on my dick. Accidentally screaming my name until she comes like a flood.

Hell, maybe she’d accidentally fall in love with me, and I’d be able to look James in the eye, lift my palms, and swear on my honor it was all an accident.

Except I already knew that would be a lie.

Because it was no accident when I swiped right.

I meant it. With every part of me. More than she would ever know.
