Something wrong and thrilling passed between them, settling in her belly. She narrowed her eyes. “You don’t think I’ll do it, do you?”
“Sure I do. I know you have it in you.” He offered his cheek, pointing at the stubbled jaw. “Go ahead, darlin’, right here.”
“I’ll do it.” Excitement sparked across her nerve endings.
“Give it your best shot.”
A devil took hold of her, and she raised her hand and struck. Of course he caught it, deflecting it easily.
But before she could retaliate further, he swept in and claimed her mouth, his tongue tangling with hers as he sucked her in and under the current of the most relentless desire she’d ever known.
She could kiss him forever.
It was like her lips had never had such a perfect fit. When they met, it was no mere press of mouths. No, they fused together, melded and yielding, burning until they were impossible to separate.
He groaned. Shifted them and walked back until she hit the wall.
Everything turned hotter. Wetter. Messy and slick and insistent.
His head slanted.
Her chin tilted.
He fisted her hair.
She clutched at his shoulders.
Their breath came fast, hands roamed.
The world tilted, her body surged, and the kiss spiraled out of control.
He lifted his head to pant against her lips, “We have to stop.”
“I know.” She pulled him back down.
He cursed and kissed her again.
Harder and more frantic. His body flush against hers as she squirmed to get closer.
He ripped away. “You’re going to be the death of me.”
She took a deep breath and her lashes fluttered open. “You need to stop kissing me.”
“Believe it or not, I’m trying.”
She shook her head to clear it from the lust making her stupid.
He rubbed his thumb over her lower lip. “It’s time to go to work.”
She sagged against the wall. “It is.”
He met her eyes. “Are we good?”
She sighed. “Do I have any other choice?”
“You can choose to be mad, but I’ll still be the project manager.”
She glared at him. “Don’t think you’re going to tell me what to do.”
