Chapter TWENTY THREE

Jared

She has the delectable blush of satiation all over her cheeks. The way my Darling girl was sniping at me, there was nothing more I wanted than to spank her perfect little ass in her girlish bedroom. But that would have bought the entire family running because my little Darlin' sure likes to scream when I spank her.

We were like a pair of teenagers, making out in her high school bedroom with the toys and all things pink and posters of Ryan Gosling everywhere. Except the making out part was nothing like teenager years. Carina has a sensual maturity like no other woman. I need to explore every inch of where her adventurous nature will take her. And I crave her innocent face, her breathy soft voice.

So I wasn't about to hide in her closet when Daddy appeared out of nowhere.

“There you are baby, Mellie was worried,” he's saying, until I step through the door and unleash a dark glower.

“What are you doing in my daughter's bedroom?” he snarls.

“Nothing, Daddy,” my Darling answers for me. “I was showing him -”

“Carina and I are seeing each other,” I interrupt her. Letting her know she doesn't have to explain herself.

“You are not,” he growls, at her more than me.

I pull her close to me, taking her under my arm to further inform him he's not ordering her around any longer. No man will ever tell Carina what to do while I'm in the room.

“Yes, Dad, we are.” I feel Carina blossom in confidence beneath my wing.

“Since when,” he snipes the words out through grinding teeth.

“Since I came home.”

“So it's just a holiday thing?” he asks.

“No. It's not,” I inform him in no uncertain manner.

Carina peeks up at me from under her feathery lashes. Her eyes are big and filled with excitement. She knows as well as I do the kind of life we can have together.

“You're old enough to be her father. Let it go.” Todd faces me, deciding to go the man-to-man route.

“I think we're all well aware of that but if Carina is fine with it, it's her decision surely.”

“She deserves a life,” her father pleads.

“Do you think she won't have a life with me? With all I can give her?”

“She's not another trophy for your collection.”

“No, but she is a grown woman now, able to make her own decisions.” Carina pipes up in her own right.

I allow her the spotlight, squeezing her hand to let her know I'm right here.

“This little escapade proves she isn't,” her father tells her. “She's still acting impulsive as a child.”

“Todd, I get that this is weird for you,” I interject into the tension. “Your children, the first baby girl moving on, is tough.”

“Don't fucking tell me what's tough,” Todd's patience detonates. “First you tried to take my girl, then you come to my house and make a play for my daughter.”

Carina gasps and her little hand clutches at me. Whether she's shocked by her father's cursing or because he's brought up this mother thing, I don't know for sure. I'm guessing it's the mom. And he's confusing her, Katie, with his daughter.

“Listen, Buddy, I don't know where you've gotten this thing about Carina's mom and me but I can tell you it's not a reality.”

“I saw you talking to her, after that final with your game-changing touchdown. Standing there with the trophy under your arm like a fucking newspaper. You disappeared down the hall together, her hanging on your other arm, almost skipping.”
