“So,” I said as I flipped through the research documents at my disposal, “when were you going to tell me that you had illegitimate children with two other women that you do take care of?”

My client, an actor whose career was circling the toilet because of his pension for barely legal young women, simply smirked. “Ah, so you figured out that little tidbit, huh. Guess those research skills of yours check out.”

I leveled my stare with his. “Is there anything else you’d like to offer up before we talk about how we’re going to dig your reputation out of the mud? Or are you going to continue to test the company you’ve hired to the tune of seven million dollars?”

He leaned back in his chair and stretched out his legs. “Gotta be certain that you’re capable of what you say you are.”

“I believe my reputation speaks for itself. So, answer my question or our contract is null and void.”

He held his hands up in mock surrender. “Fine, fine. Just having a little fun, is all.”

“Well, have less of it. Your ‘fun’ is why you’re currently in my conference room.”

The smirk fell from his face. “All of those girls were at least eighteen. I’m sure you can see that for yourself.”

“Doesn’t matter in the court of public opinion.”

He leaned forward. “So, what are you going to do about it?”

I glanced down at the research documents. “My notes here say that you pay both women the same amount of money a month. So, no favoritism.”

“Nope.”

“These payments of $250,000. Houses for them, I presume?”

“What, that didn’t come up in your research?”

I flipped his folder closed. “Get him out of here.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” he said as he stood to his feet, “come on now. I’m just having a bit of fun.”

I flickered my gaze up at him. “Not on my watch. You can exit the same way you entered.”

His face fell. “Are you for fucking real right now?”

I shot up out of my chair and got into his face. “I’m as real as it gets, Mr. Litudoe. So, you better start taking it seriously before you’re out your career plus seven million. Understood?”

He nodded quickly. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it.”

I pushed him in his chest and sat him back down. “Then, answer my question. Houses you purchased for them?”

“Yes.”

I perched on the edge of the onyx conference room table. “Everything divvied evenly between the two?”

“Completely evenly.”

“Do you see those kids at all?”

He shook his head. “No, I don’t. The women don’t want to see me, so I don’t see them.”

I nodded. “You respect their boundaries for their children and well-being. That’s good. I can work with that.”

He sighed with relief. “Oh, thank fuck.”
