But maybe his brother was on to something.

“How in the hell would you have noticed something like that?” Miles, the straightest straight man on the planet, asked him.

Joey snorted. “Because I’ve looked at hot guys the same way.”

“Fuck off!” Miles replied, aghast. “Seriously? You get hard-ons from looking at guys?”

Luca knew the look in Joey’s eyes very well. If his brother had one true talent—after taking a perfectly clean house and making it an absolute shithole within minutes—it was getting under Miles’s skin.

“Yep,” Joey said, popping the p.

Miles considered that for a minute. “You ever get hard from looking at me?”

Joey burst out into loud laughter. “I said hot guys, Miles.”

Miles crossed his arms and scowled. “Yeah, well, let me save you some time. I’m not interested. Never happening.”

“Never say never,” Joey taunted.

The two men were distracted from their play fight when the Phillies scored a run.

“Hell yeah!” Joey yelled as he and Miles high-fived, their attention focused on the game once more.

Luca was glad for the reprieve, as it gave him time to consider Joey’s belief. Luca, in high school, was pretty much as straight as Miles was now, so it wouldn’t have been surprising if he didn’t pick up on Conor’s attraction to him, if that really was the case.

But when he played over some of their interchanges in class and in the library…

Maybe Conor had been flirting with him.

The problem was, even if Conor had come out and expressed an interest, Luca knew how it would have ended. He would have rejected him.

Now, though…

Shit. This hesitation, this questioning, was all Gio’s fault. Maybe it was the twin bond. That strange mental connection he shared with his brother. Luca swore he and Gio were capable of not only knowing if the other was in trouble but also sharing emotions. Gio was clearly unwittingly transferring his feelings to Luca. Because there was no denying that since Gio had settled down with Keeley and Rafe, Luca was overwhelmed by the desire to find a similar happily ever after.

A commercial came on, and Miles turned back to him. “So what are you going to do if it turns out Joey is right and Conor has the hots for you?”

Luca shrugged.

Miles had been about to devour another wing, but he froze with the piece of chicken halfway to his mouth. “Wait—would you go out with him?”

Luca didn’t respond, playing that question over in his mind.

“The fact that it’s taking you so long to answer must mean you’re really thinking about it,” Miles stated. Then he looked over at Joey. “Would you go out with a guy?”

Joey laughed and slapped Miles on the shoulder. “Why do you assume I haven’t already?”

Miles stared at his best friend for a full minute before shaking his head. “Jesus. I thought you were joking about the hard-ons and hot guys. Just when I think you can’t surprise me any more, you always find a way to take shit to the next level. Must be something in your genes because I’ve never met a family more open to just about fucking anything.”

“Hang on,” Joey said. “Do you mean fucking anything or fucking anything?”

The three of them laughed, but Luca had to concede that Miles had a point.

Luca was one of five kids. He had his brothers, Tony, Joey, and Gio, and a sister, Layla. Three of his four siblings had settled down with not just one partner but two. While his oldest brother, Tony, shared Jess with Rhys, the two men weren’t together together. The same didn’t hold true for Luca’s twin, Gio.

Gio and Rafe lived together in throuple bliss with Keeley, and there was no question it was a true ménage in every sense of the word. The same held true for Layla and her two guys, Miguel and Finn.

“Maybe it’s time you took that stick out of your ass, Miles, and opened your mind to our way of thinking,” Joey teased.
