Luca shook his head. “I don’t think it’s too soon to call this a relationship. I’m thirty-four years old, Conor. I’ve spent the past eighteen years dating with reckless abandon, all in the hopes of finding the person I want to spend my life with. None of those past relationships ever had me thinking forever. Not a single one. Except this one.”

Forever.

Conor wasn’t sure how one word could evoke such different emotions because as much as he loved hearing it, he couldn’t ignore the tightness growing in his chest at the thought of it.

Before he could think of a response, Luca continued, “We may have only started fucking a few weeks ago, but we’ve been with each other nearly every day for over two months. I’ve never spent this much time with anyone. In the past, I’d only see the woman I was dating once a week—if that. But with the two of you, every time I leave you, I’m already texting to ask when we can get together again, and then I count down the minutes until that time comes.”

Conor was the same. He hated every second he wasn’t with them. He just wouldn’t let himself admit that until now.

When neither Harper nor Conor replied to that, Luca narrowed his eyes, the man on a roll, speaking all the truths. “I also know I’m not the only who feels this way because, dammit, you two are texting me just as much, and stopping by with coffee and lunch and making up a bunch of other excuses so that we can be together. If you don’t want to hear that yet, Conor, then fine. I’ll hold my peace—for a little while. But I’m not going to lie about my end game here. It’s the three of us, complete with vows and babies.”

Conor was shaking his head through all of Luca’s impassioned speech, but not because he disagreed. “I’m not sure if that’s wonderful or utterly terrifying,” Conor murmured, though he absolutely was not scared anymore.

Harper sniffled, then hugged Luca. “It’s wonderful. Luca, that’s the most beautiful thing anyone has ever said to me.”

Then she turned to hug Conor as well. “Are you going to keep pushing us away?”

Conor shook his head. “God…no. I…” He decided to take a page from Luca’s book and speak from the heart. “I couldn’t stay away from the two of you if I tried.”

The three of them smiled at each other for a long moment, then the floodgates opened and the need for words fell away as they began to kiss, touch, hug, revel in the miracle of them. Of this.

Conor had no idea how long they made out on the couch, but when Luca came up for air, he had only one thing to say.

“Bedroom.”

Rising in unison, Conor led the way to his bedroom, overwhelmed by the need to pinch himself to make sure this was real.

He’d woken up on the floor, feeling as if the world had crashed around him. Given the state of his library, it was safe to say it had.

Now, Harper and Luca knew about the attacks, about his past, and they hadn’t walked away.

Once they entered his room, he walked over to the bed, sinking down on the mattress. Luca followed but stopped in front of Conor’s nightstand.

He frowned when Luca slid the drawer open. They’d stopped using condoms at the cabin, and he, for one, didn’t want to return to them. Harper was the first woman he’d ever had sex with bare, and holy fuck, did it feel good.

He started to say as much until he realized it wasn’t condoms Luca was looking for. His heart skipped a couple beats when Luca pulled out a tube of lubrication.

Conor started to rub his chest, but Luca grasped his wrist.

“We don’t have to if you’re not ready,” he murmured.

Conor glanced down, realizing his lovers had clearly noticed his nervous habit.

“I want to.” He had to clear his throat. “I’m not nervous about it. Fuck. I want to so badly,” he repeated with more force.

Harper sank down on the mattress next to Conor. “I want to watch,” she admitted.

Luca shook his head. “You’re going to do more than watch, sunshine. It’s the three of us now. Always. Get undressed.”

Conor and Harper rose, helping each other strip out of their clothing. He pulled her T-shirt off gently, trying not to touch the sore spots on her face. The kisses they’d given her downstairs had been limited to her cheeks, her neck, her ears. Neither he nor Luca wanted to hurt her split lip.

Glancing over his shoulder, Conor saw that Luca had been more expedient, undressing himself while Conor and Harper were going slower, taking the scenic route.

Once they were naked, Conor drew back the duvet, helping Harper onto the mattress. He’d taken charge at the cabin for their captive role-play, but today, he didn’t want to be anyone other than himself. While he’d enjoyed the control during their fantasies, when it was just the three of them like this, he loved that Luca was the dominant one.

Luca seemed to understand his hesitance. “Lie down on your back in the middle, Harper.”

She did as Luca said, smiling at them so sweetly, Conor thought his heart might melt. Her gorgeous, expressive blue eyes shone with excitement and joy and—fuck—love?
