“How long have you lived here?” I scan his room and find a few framed pictures on his dresser. I don’t hesitate to go take a closer look at them.

“Since I joined the Pit Bulls. I had Dad and Wes renovate it while I stayed at their house, but it came out exactly how I wanted it to.”

“Isn't it kinda big for you to live here all alone?”

The first picture is of Wyatt with Blake and Kennedy. The next is him with Nikita, Peyton, and Creed climbing on him. There are three other pictures and every one of them is Wyatt with his arms wrapped around me.

“Well, I didn’t buy it with the intention of being single forever. I thought it would be a great place for me and my future wife to settle down and raise a family.”

“How’s that working out for you?” I mutter under my breath, but I know he can hear me.

I run my fingers over the happy couple in each picture and wish we could go back to that time. Things were perfect back then. We were happy and looking forward to what life had in store for us.

“Pretty shitty.” He chuckles. “My future wife wants nothing to do with me.”

“Then it sounds like she won't be your future wife. I guess you should start looking for someone new.”

“Nah, there’s no one else in the world for me. No one else I’d want.”

I glance at him over my shoulder and find his attention focused on me. I don’t know why I'm surprised. His attention is always on me. It has been since we first met.

Wyatt’s alarm on his phone goes off, breaking the tension building in the room.

“Dinner is ready.” He holds his hand out and because I'm a sucker for punishment, I take it and let him lead me back to the kitchen.

His large hand engulfs mine. It’s warm and his skin is rough from years of playing ball and working for Dad and Blake.

“Would you like a glass of wine?” Wyatt pulls out a chair at the table and motions for me to take a seat.

“Uh…” I hesitate because if we’re both drinking wine, I'm not sure what could happen.

He moves into the kitchen and pulls something out of the oven. He carefully places it on the center of the table, then goes back to get something else.

“I’m not going to make a move on you, Charlie. The only way anything is happening between us is if you want it too, and I think you’ve made it clear you don’t want that. But this is your favorite wine.” He holds up the bottle and arches a brow, daring me to argue with him.

“How do you know it’s my favorite?”

“Your mom always has a few bottles at home. I asked her why and she told me it was your favorite. She never lets anyone openthem unless you’re home. Lincoln gets pissed because he likes it too.”

“Oh my gosh! He could buy his own!” I roll my eyes at how ridiculous Lincoln can be. He’ll always be one of my favorite people because of his over-the-top personality though.

“So… wine?” He wiggles the bottle.

Chapter 14

Wyatt

It feels so surreal having Charlie in my home, sitting at my dining room table. I’ve dreamed of her being here but to have it actually happen is amazing.

I can picture her stumbling into the kitchen in the morning to make a pot of coffee. Her laying on the couch upside down with her head hanging off the edge because she’s bored. She’s wrapped in a towel walking around our bedroom as she tries to figure out what she wants to wear. It would be a dream come true.

“Dinner was amazing.” She wipes her mouth with a napkin and lets out a sigh.

“What?” I smirk at her. She looks happy and at home here.

“I rarely eat home cooked meals. It’s actually one of the things I'm looking forward to about being home. I know Mom is going to stuff my freezer with homemade dinners. Grandma Sadie’s always done it for everyone and Uncle Nick always complains, but he secretly loves it.”

“Sadie dropped off some things for me last week.” I chuckle, thinking about how sweet Nick’s mom is. She’s so used to mothering everyone, she doesn’t know how else to act. I'm shocked she only had one kid, but I guess she’s adopted dozens at this point with everyone on Mulberry Lane. She considers all of us as her kids and grandkids.
