“Well, if neither one of us shows up, I think we’ll end up with half the team on our doorstep, with Owen, wondering why we didn’t come.”

“Damn, I love the sound of that.” He tightens his hold on me and kisses the back of my neck.

“Of everyone showing up here?” I squirm in his embrace because the light scruff on his jaw is tickling me.

“You just saidourdoorstep. I love you thinking of this as your house too.”

“But it’s not. Not really.” I play with the hair on the back of his hand, not wanting to talk about this right now.

“It could be though. All you have to do is accept my offer to move in. Please, sweetheart. I want you here with me.”

“And what do we tell everyone?”

“We tell them you’re moving in with your boyfriend.” He grins.

“My boyfriend, huh? I don’t think I have one of those,” I tease him, knowing he’ll get all riled up.

“You don’t think you have a boyfriend after what we did last night? Multiple times I might add.” He arches a brow. “You’remine, baby. Always and forever,” he growls. “Don’t fuck with me or I’ll be tying you to this bed.”

“Hmm, that sounds nice.” I roll my bottom lip between my teeth to keep from smiling, but it doesn’t work.

“Don’t tempt me. Danny’s going to kill me if I don’t show up for work. C’mon, let’s get up.”

Wyatt nudges me and when I make no move to get up, he begins tickling me. I thrash around on the bed, careful not to hit his injured knee.

“Wyatt! Stop it,” I squeal.

“Fine, but you have to get up.” He presses a soft kiss to the top of my head before nudging me again.

I strip the sheet off of me and climb over Wyatt to get out of bed. He lets out a low groan and scrubs a hand down his face.

“I forgot you were naked. Maybe you should get back in this bed. I’ll call Owen and let him know we won't be into work because I'm having some groin pain and I need you to massage it out.”

“Nice try.” I chuckle and shake my head. “You made me get out of bed, now you have to, too.”

Chapter 26

Wyatt

“How are you feeling, Wyatt?” Brent stands at the foot of the table and folds his arms over his chest. “It’s been a few days since your injury.”

His gaze strays from me and I turn to see what he’s looking at. Anger washes over me when I find Charlie bending over, her glorious ass sticking in the air.

“I'm over here, Doc,” I growl, not caring if I offend him. She’s finally mine again and I'm not going to let him get in the way of that.

“Sorry.” He clears his throat and his cheeks heat with embarrassment. “How are you feeling?”

“It hurts, but I have no doubt I’ll be as good as new by the first game.”

“I like the optimism, but you shouldn’t push yourselftoo hard.”

“I'm pushing him just as hard as he needs to be pushed, not anymore.” Charlie comes over to the table and places a hand on my shoulder.

Brent watches her carefully. He’s trying to figure out what’s going on between us and if there’s something he should know about. He thinks he’s important here, but he’s not. As long as Owen doesn’t have an issue with us dating, he can't say a thing about it.

“You two are looking cozy together.” Owen enters the room and as soon as he sees Charlie standing at my side a big smile spreads across his face. “How ya doing, Brent?”

“Great,” he says sarcastically. “Just making sure our star catcher doesn’t do something stupid.”
