As soon as a towel is wrapped around my waist, I snatch my phone off of the counter and hit the button to video call Charlie. I need to fix things between us if it’s the last thing I do.

“Hello?” The screen lights up for a second before it’s plunged into darkness.

“What are you doing?” I chuckle.

“I just got out of the shower. I figured it would be inappropriate for me to drop my towel while my camera was on.”

“I mean, I wouldn’t complain.” I shrug, knowing she can still see me even though I can't see her.

“Wyatt!” She gasps.

“What? I'm just being honest. Plus, I'm totally about to drop my towel while my camera is on.” I shrug and lift my towel in the air to show her.

“Yeah, well you’re addicted to not wearing shirts, so…”

“I'm not addicted to it.” I roll my eyes, but I can't hide my grin. “It’s just normal to me. When I go to work for strengthtraining, we’re almost all shirtless. We get hot and there’s no reason for us to keep shirts on. Hell, I'm pretty sure Smithy would workout naked if we wouldn’t yell at him.”

I bend down to slip on my boxers, right before I do, a text pops up on the screen. Before I can read it, it’s gone. Oh, well. Hopefully it wasn’t important.

“Plus, don’t girls love to stare at shirtless men.” I wiggle my brows, trying to lighten up this conversation as much as I can.

“I’ve never complained about it.”

My screen lights up with an image of Charlie. She’s lying on her side in my childhood bed. She probably has the phone propped up against one of my pillows.

Her wet hair is twisted into a bun at the top of her head. She has her nose buried in the sweatshirt she’s wearing and I chuckle.

“Are you wearing my sweatshirt?” I think back to what Dad said. Apparently, she always wears my shirts to bed.

“Umm…” Her perfectly white teeth sink into her bottom lip and she glances away for a moment. “Yes,” she whispers.

“I’ve always loved seeing you in my clothes.” I slip under my sheets and tuck a hand behind my head.

It’s been a long day. I should be going to bed because tomorrow is only going to be worse. Spring training begins next week and I want to make sure I'm staying on top of my workouts before it starts. Nothing is worse than showing up at spring training after slacking during the time off. It’s brutal then.

Charlie took a FaceTime photo.

The words pop up on my screen and a slow smirk spreads over my face.

Charlie’s eyes skim over my body and I swear she isn't hearing a word I say. I flex my arm, knowing she’s watching my every movement.

Charlie took a FaceTime photo.

The words appear again and I can't help but chuckle. She’s so adorable. She can say she’s happy being single all she wants, but she’s not. She misses me.

“Are you done snapping photos of me yet, sweetheart?”

“What? I'm not doing that!”

“You know I get a notification when you take one, right?”

“In my defense, no I didn’t know that. And now that I’ve thoroughly embarrassed myself, I'm going to hang up.”

“No, don’t do that.” I chuckle at the blush creeping up her neck and spreading over her cheeks. “I want to talk to you. I’ve missed you so much.”

“I’ve missed you too,” she whispers.

“Can I take you out for dinner tomorrow night?”
