I ignore her words, though there's some truth to what she's just said.

"I'm coming tonight, Cami, don't worry. And if I run into Dom, maybe we'll have fun again, and maybe we won't." ButI can admit to myself, and only myself, I’m hoping for door number one.

My sisterand her partners bought an old warehouse on a fuck ton of land and are renovating the fifteen thousand square feet. It's been a labor of love, but she's still forty-five minutes from the city.

Having left an overnight bag in my car because there's no way I'm driving back tonight, I exit the vehicle and make my way into their home. This is a housewarming and goodbye party rolled up into one giant package.

One of her partners, the famous Miles Sterling, is packing up my sister, brother-in-law, and nieces, and leaving for New York for the year, as Miles produces a Broadway hit about his own life. It’s about him coming out of the closet as a famous actor, from early on in Hollywood to announcing his polyamorous relationship with my sister and brother-in-law. I'll miss Cami, but I'm excited for her. She deserves all the love in the world, and her two men give it to her in droves.

I caved last minute, afraid to see Dom tonight and invited a date, who met me at their house. But truth be told, he’s more interested in meeting Miles than going with me. It’s a shitty thing to do, and when I introduce him to my sister, I end up losing him in the crowd. Oh well, I really didn’t want him with me.

The living room is large and open, and there are a lot more people than I thought my sister and her men knew. My eyes land on the bar. I think I need a couple drinks in my system before I start people-ing.

I'm barely there when I bump into a familiar face from our time at the lake.

"Sandra, right?" asks the blonde bombshell who can give Dolly Parton a run for her money in the boob department. If I remember correctly, she tends to drive Dom batshit crazy.

"Yeah, and it's Kayla, correct?" Another familiar face from our weekend up at the lake sidles up next to her, placing his hands on her hips, but he ignores me, his eyes on Kayla.

"You're right. It's Kayla Peters. How have you been?" She takes a drink of something bright and fruity, with strawberries and peaches floating in it, only for it to be yanked from her hands.

"That's enough. You've had five drinks already." The man I remember as Dom's friend begins scolding her like a child and I raise a brow. He walks away, taking her drink with him.

"Is that your boyfriend?" I ask.

She shakes her head no, returning to the bartender. "Can I get another one of those, please?"

She lets out a girly laugh. "Nah, that's Garner. You may remember him from the lake. We fight all the time; he's like my brother. He has the wrong body parts for me and thinks he's my keeper." She grabs her drink, moving in the opposite direction of herkeeper.

"I'll chat with you later, Sandra. By the way, Dom will be here tonight." Has he spoken about me? Why would Kayla so casually add that to our conversation?

Am I nervous or hopeful? I order a Crown and diet soda, and once it’s in my hand I begin wandering through the crowd, trying to find my sister.

My eyes catch a hot Italian man in an impeccable suit. Yeah, that's Dom. And I don't have to work up the nerve to talk to him because there’s a blonde on his arm. She looks familiar, like amodel, but I can't place her. He leans in to kiss her on the cheek, and she reaches around and pinches his ass.

Like I told my sister, if he wanted me he could have found me. I have my answer.

The party has died down, but I’d long ago found a room my sister said would always be mine, a place to stay anytime I’m visiting. They’re not done with the remodel, and for now it’s only a king bed with drapes, but I know my sister will do something fabulous here. And it’s all I need for tonight.

The date I brought ended up leaving with one of Dane’s paralegals. I dodged a bullet with that man.

My room is far enough away from the hoopla of everyone, and near the children, which I love. My nieces are everything to me. Maggie is five going on thirty, and Bridget is my snuggle bug. They know the fun aunt is staying the night, and I’m surprised they’ve not barged in, asking to sleep in my bed.

I have a unique relationship with my nieces. At forty, the likelihood of having children of my own is very low. I take Maggie and Bridget for long periods of time, sometimes a week or more, especially if Cami needs time to herself. Cami and Dane had been in a serious threesome before Miles, and he left them, and the girls.

At the time, Dane and Cami were heartbroken. I’d watch the girls for them, and we had the best time, but they are so much work. I could be the fun aunt and not worry about the hard stuff parents struggle with. But the girls are my heart.

The door opens and I wait for little footsteps to barrel my way, but the steps are too heavy. I freeze, not sure what to think or do.

“Sandra.”

It’s a masculine whisper, and a voice I won’t ever forget.The nerve!

“What the hell are you doing in here? What if I was naked?” There’s a deep timbre in the reverberation of his chuckle that I desperately wish I could say was not effective on me.

“Rosso, it’s nothing I’ve not seen and enjoyed already.”

“Entitled asshole,” I hiss and cover myself up with a blanket, turning on my cell phone light to see. “How’d you know where I was?”
