Terence is smooth, but it’s his job, and he’s rewarded for this special attention to detail.

“Yes, and thanks for asking. I miss them, but they’re well.”

“And, Terence,” I continue, “can you put her on the list?”

She swings her attention to me then back to Terence. “Yes, sir. Right away.”

Walking through the doors, I direct her to a set of elevators hidden in the back of the building. “This has access only to one floor. Daimen, Elliot, and Arden’s home.”

I push in the code, and we ascend the many floors. I watch her intently, a smirk splitting my lips. “You’re fucking cute,” I tease, and I back her into the corner of the elevator, lifting her lips that match her hair to my mouth.

“What if they don’t like me?”

“Impossible, Cassandra McDonald.” I lean in to crash her lips to mine when the door opens and that cunt Sofie announces our arrival. Sofie is their automated security system.

“Attention: your brother, Dominic, is here, along with Sandra McDonald.”

Sandra has been here before and isn’t surprised by the blaring voice. There’s a pause, and silence surrounds us before a baby begins to wail. Fuck, I can’t wait to have a family one day. A family I’ll cherish, and children I’ll put first, unlike mypiece of shit parents. It’s my dream, even though at times I self-sabotaged myself, not thinking I could give any woman a future.

Elliot pops her head around the corner separating the entranceway to the kitchen. “Ah, follow the screams of the triplets, and you’ll find us.”

Elliot hasn’t returned to work full-time yet, but she excels at motherhood. Harper is in Arden’s arms, and he’s bottle-feeding her. Daimen is walking the diva, Sadie, around the kitchen, but she’s expressing her dissatisfaction with the situation, and the boy of the group, Gage, is asleep in Elliot’s arms.

I walk over to Harper. I don’t know why, but she and I have bonded. Maybe because she’s not as fiery as her sister but has this sweet temperament that sucks you in. “Princess Harper, my girl. How are you doing?”

She seems rather happy with my voice, and when I bend over, she burps and blows some of her formula onto my face. The entire kitchen howls at me, and Arden waits to hand me his burp cloth, as if to enjoy me wearing the spit a little bit longer.

Through Sadie’s cries and our laughs, little Gage continues to sleep the whole time. What a trooper.

“Here, baby, let me help you,” Sandra says, wiping more baby spit from my face, taking a paper towel and wetting it.

“Look at this, babe.” Daimen walks over to Arden, who is as much a brother to me as my own biological one. “Our baby brother is growing up. Soon he’ll have one of these.”

Sandra stills, her face turning ashen. She recovers quickly, and if I wasn’t watching her, I’d almost miss her reaction.

“Yeah, all grown up. A business of his own, an apartment, and a lady friend,” Arden quips.

Behind Sandra’s back I flip both of them off, as Sofie begins to speak.

“One day I’m going to fuck up that cunt,” I say to Daimen, who ignores me.

“Mr. Garner Blakely and Ms. Kayla Peters are here.”

I shift my attention to my brother. Sandra was nervous enough without these two going at it all night.

“Sorry, it’s my fault,” Arden explains, “but I was clear that we couldn’t handle the war of the worlds tonight.”

Sandra leans into my ear. “I don’t get it. If they hate the other, why on God’s green earth are they always together?” she asks.

“Fuck if I know. Maybe to drive us all insane?”

And sure enough, we all hear him in the other room, his tone elevated, something about another girl. Not another girl for Garner, because the son of a bitch has gone and fallen in love with a woman who loves pussies as much as he does.

“Don’t start with me, Garner Blakely.”

Kayla rounds the corner and gives a weak smile. “Sorry, I promise we’re not going to fight.” And she helps herself to the wine, and before I can take my best friend aside, Sofie begins to speak again.

“Daria Torano is here, along with an unknown guest.”
