“Sonny knows you’re here,” he says, rushing me out of the room.

I hurriedly snatch my heels and the blazer Antonio switched out his jacket for earlier and nearly trip as Leo drags me out of the cabin.

I’m putting a lot of trust into Leo when I climb into his black sedan. He can very well be kidnapping me from my kidnapper.

I can’t help but snort at the irony.

Antonio clearly trusts Leo enough to watch me, but traitors always strike when you least expect it. After Rocky betrayed my father, I learned anyone can flip at any time.

Leo speeds off and leaves the cabin behind. He tosses his phone toward me, and it lands on my lap with a thud. Antonio’s name is on the screen.

“We’re leaving now,” Leo says while driving down a shadowy road. “Are we meeting at location one or two?”

“Two,” Antonio replies.

“What’s one and two?” I ask, but no one answers.

“Shit, I’m getting a call,” Antonio says. “Hurry and call me if you have any problems.”

He hangs up, and I play with the phone in my hand. I can easily sneak and call my father. Even if I called his number, set the phone to the side, and allowed him to hear Leo while tracing the call.

“Don’t even think about it,” Leo says, grabbing the phone. “I think you’d rather be with me than dumped on the side of the road as Sonny searches for you.”

“Rude,” I grumble.

We’re quiet, and he focuses on navigating the roads. When we spot another set of headlights, my breathing hitches. Leo veers to the shoulder of the road, and the other car does the same.

Clasping my palm to my heart, I take deep breaths. As soon as Leo puts the car in park, Antonio steps out of the other car. He opens my door, helps me out, and directs me to his.

A minute later, I’m in his car, and we’re driving away.

“Where are we going?” I ask him.

He ignores me and continues driving.

“Antonio!” I yell. “Where are we going?”

He concentrates on the road, his shoulders hunched forward. “You’ll see when we get there.”

I accept his answer and allow him to focus on the road.

As he drives, I watch the clock on the console. Thirty-seven minutes pass before we arrive at our destination. Somehow, he took a backward detour in the suburbs of the city, and we’re back in a wooded area. I recognize the location where the wealthy reside if they desire privacy. Wherever this is, it’s an upgrade from the cabin.

The driveway has pathway lights, but it’s still difficult to take in my surroundings in the dark when he parks in front of a home.

Antonio unsnaps his seat belt, and I do the same before stepping out of the car. He rests his hand on the base of my back and guides me toward the front door. A light above the porch provides some illumination, and I notice bright flowers and a small bench on the porch.

Antonio knocks once.

Twice.

Three times.

A light flicks on in the house, and someone peeks out a window before answering the door. Antonio ushers me inside and gently shuts it behind us.

We’re in a foyer, and the man appears in front of us.

“What the hell, Antonio?” He shakes his head while staring me down. “You know I have no problem with Amara stayinghere, but no way in hell am I taking the Mafia princess you kidnapped into my home.”
