I shiver as his brown eyes, enigmatic and alluring, search mine. The longer I gaze at him, the deeper he draws my soul into his darkness.

People mistake his manipulativeness with charm, but I see right through him.

My father has done business with his family for years, but I’ve never seen him so up close to appreciate how gorgeous he is. He doesn’t give me a chance to do it either.

“What’s a princess like you doing here?” His question oozes with intimidation, his own form of venom.

His voice.

It’s smooth, like my favorite lattes in Paris, yet callous at the same time.

And oh my God.

It makes me feel my heartbeat in my clit.

I should be worried about him and his snake, but here I am, lusting over this murderous psychopath.

Norman starts screaming again in the background, and Antonio grins as if it’s his favorite lullaby.

“Girls like you shouldn’t linger around the devil’s dungeon unless they’re asking for trouble. So why are you here?” He tightens his hold on me, knocking some sense into my brain.

I struggle to release myself.

“If you don’t answer me in three seconds, I’ll provide you the same fate as Norman.”

“I’m certainly not injecting people with lethal toxins, like you.” I provide a forceful jerk with my last two words.

His solid body doesn’t move an inch during my struggle. “Norman betrayed my family.”

I shudder when his glove-covered hand rises to curl around my face. He mercilessly digs his fingers into my cheek. My skin feels like it’s being scorched by an invisible flame.

No big deal. Just breathe,Gigi.

It’s not like he was just holdingthe most venomous snake in the worldin that hand.

My muscles tighten, and I know I should pull a Norman and scream. Benny is somewhere in the warehouse and will come to my rescue. Then, he’ll murder Antonio for laying his snake-handling, Norman-killing hands on me. But I stupidly don’t.

“Why not just shoot him?” I ask instead. “Grant him a quick death. It’s the humane thing to do.” I’m fully aware that murder in any form isn’t humane. It’s semantics at this point.

“If a man is worthy of a humane death, he’ll receive it. Norman isn’t.”

“Let’s hope I never marry a man with your mindset.”

“If your husband isn’t a killer, he won’t remain your husband for long,Giana.”

I stop my fighting. “How?—”

“Oh, princess.” He tsks like how he did with Norman. “You thought I didn’t know who you are?”

My tense shoulders soften an inch. “Knowing who I am means you won’t kill me.” I smugly clasp my free hand around his gloved one.

“Someone’s name has never deterred me from killing them.”

“How would you kill me then,Antonio Lombardi?”

The shock factor of knowing his name isn’t what I hoped for. Instead of appearing fazed, he looks almost entertained.

“Let’s hope we don’t find out.” He abruptly releases me and retreats a step.
