“You’d better go unnoticed then,” I say. “You and Julian are the best at surveillance.”

That isn’t a lie to stroke Damien’s ego. His dad was the best at intelligence gathering and passed that trait down to his sons. He also has great connections, which is how I easily snuck into Gigi’s dressing room unnoticed.

My cock twitches as I think of her. I haven’t fucked another woman since the first time I laid hands on her. Even if I tried, guilt would consume me.

I’m not Gigi’s enemy.

I’m her stalker.

A man who has it bad.

And one who doesn’t easily give up.

I crack my neck from side to side and walk into my father’s basement. I’m already dreading the family meeting tonight. We used to hold them a few times a week. Since Vinny’s death, they’ve been less frequent.

My father—at the head—Sonny, and other high-ranking members are seated at the large table. A table made of pure gold with anLcarved in the middle. My father loves it, and it cost a pretty penny. I find it gaudy as fuck.

Men greet me with head nods when I take the seat next to my father—Vinny’s old chair. There were no questions asked the first time I sat there, and I’ve done it every time since.

“Antonio,” my father greets, “we need something from you.”

All attention is on me, and from their expectant expressions, I know they were discussing whateverthey needbefore my arrival.

I scrub a hand over my mouth in dread. “Let me hear it.”

“As you know, we made an arrangement with the Silvermans for Vinny to marry Serena.”

Fuck. I should’ve known this was coming.

“Find someone else,” I quickly say, only looking at my father.

My father draws in a breath and slowly releases it. “We signed a contract, Antonio.”

“And the person in that contract is dead,” I argue. “Which makes the contract also dead.”

If he’s so concerned about the contract, he can dig up Vinny’s body and marry it to Serena.

“It’s important we keep our word,” my father continues.

“Keep your word and have someone else do it then.” I tug my phone from my pocket, Google Serena’s full name, and display her photo to the table. “She’s cute. Now, which one of you lucky men wants to marry her?”

Granted, there aren’t many single men in the room.

“Why are you so opposed to marrying her?” Sonny asks, eyeing me suspiciously while leaning back in the chair and crossing his arms. “Word is, you’ve been keeping company you shouldn’t?—”

Baring my teeth, I slam my hand on the table and cut him right the fuck off. “I’ll slit your fucking throat if you sit there and try to throw false accusations around.”

Sonny’s insinuation implies he knows about Gigi, which means he’s either having me or my men followed. And my reaction to that further proved him right.

“Accusations?” My father’s gaze bounces from Sonny to me. “What does that mean?”

Sonny stares at me mockingly, self-satisfied with his little game.

“He doesn’t mean shit,” I reply, curling my lip while leaning closer toward Sonny. “He thinks he’s slick, trying to manipulate me into marrying Serena. Do I have women I fuck? Yes. Do I want a wife? Fuck no. Now, like I said, pick someone else.” I jerk my jaw toward Sonny. “He seems committed to having a marriage with the Silvermans.” I mimic the mocking smirk he gave me. “Congrats. You get another wife. Let’s hope this one doesn’t walk in front of a bus.”

“Oh, come on, Antonio?—”

I talk over Sonny. “I could kill you right now for even disrespecting me. Now that Vinny is gone,I’mnext in line. Not you.”
