“Then we should get on with things. This is my security guard, will you show us both to your CCTV room, so he can check on things?” I state firmly, gesturing to Kellan as I mention him, deliberately glossing over actually introducing him.

The Sheriff finally pulls his leering gaze away from my girl, and casts a glance over at Kellan. It’s so fleeting, it’s clear he doesn’t see him as any kind of threat.

That’s why Kel was the perfect choice for this role. Aside from him being a computer whiz, people have been underestimating him our whole life.

He looks unassuming, almost like a geek who can fade into the background. But that’s not at all the case. He’s just as deadly and lethal as me and my brothers, if not more because of people underestimating him. In spite of his sarcasm and anxious demeanour, he’s just as much of a threat as the rest of us—he just hides it better.

“Since you’re so impatient to get started, we may as well,” The Sheriff replies, sounding more than a little exasperated.

I’m not anxious to get to the performance, but I am looking forward to him handing over the key to his entire kingdom willingly,I think smugly to myself.

“I’m assuming if I leave my slut here, someone will keep an eye on her. And by that, I mean someone will make sure she’s not spoken to or touched, let alone looked at in the wrong way.” I keep my tone firm, the threat more than obvious.

The Sheriff looks around, before his gaze finally lands on Lilly. “My Lilly can watch her.”

“Good,” I state, before turning to address Teigan, who is still looking at the floor. “Slut, you are to remain here in this position. Do not move, do not speak to anyone, and under no circumstances will you allow anyone to touch you. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Sir,” Teigan replies quickly, keeping her voice neutral but polite—just the way we practised.

Upon hearing her friend speak, and remaining so submissive, Lilly looks at Tee with her mouth flopped open, like she can’t quite believe what she’s seeing. Then she turns to me, and it’s clear given the way her eyes flare that she’s pissed at me. She trusted me to help Teigan escape, and she thinks I betrayed thattrust by breaking her. I hate that she doesn’t know my girl could never be broken.

“Lilly will ensure your slut remains on her best behaviour, and that nobody speaks to her. Won’t you?” He tilts his head towards Lilly, glaring at her in a way that makes her stand up a little straighter, clearly hearing a threat in his words that I can’t.

“Of course, Sir. She will be safe with me,” Lilly replies, bowing her head respectfully.

I wave her off, indicating for The Sheriff to lead the way to the security room. He makes small talk as we move through the corridors into the back of the club. He talks about how excited he is for the performance, and I have to block him out, or I may kill him before the show even begins. If I have to listen to him say another word about Tee, my barely contained rage will be let loose.

Kellan, who can obviously tell I’m reaching the end of my tether, places a hand on my shoulder, before leaning in to whisper into my ear, so only I can hear. “Calm down, Ev. Think of the bigger picture.” He uses the words I spoke to Teigan earlier, and it manages to soothe me just a little.

After God knows how many twists and turns, we make it into the security room. There’s only one guy watching all the screens, and I breathe a sigh of relief. Kellan could comfortably take out a couple of guys himself without them raising the alarm, but one will be a piece of cake.

I don’t pay much attention to the room, other than noting the many screens that show security cameras covering all areas of the club, including the back rooms and the car park outside.

There’s a main computer, with more wires coming out of the terminal than I can even comprehend, but given the smile Kellan is fighting to hold back, it’s clear the setup is exactly what he was expecting.

On one of the screens towards the top corner of the wall, I see the stage all set up for the performance. As I take in the details, I realise, The Sheriff is trying to get out of one of the deals we made, and my heart beats so loud in my ears as the red mist descends.

“I thought we agreed there would be no cameras on stage,” I snap, pointing at the screens that show the cameras set up on the stage.

Teigan told me about her past punishments, and how The Sheriff liked to set up cameras, so that he could zoom in on her face, or her ass, showing the audience in great detail how much she was suffering. Just the thought of him zooming in on her tears, or her red ass, for the whole room to see in better detail, makes me want to beat the shit out of him right now.

“They’re not set to record, as agreed. But they give the paying public a much better view of the good stuff,” he replies calmly, shrugging his shoulders, like I won’t be bothered by his attempt at finding a fucking loophole.

“No fucking way. We said no cameras, and I meant it. No exceptions. I don’t care if it’s only live streaming,” I snarl, glaring at him.

“But…they’ve paid a lot of money,” he mutters in response.

“I don’t give a shit. They will get the show they paid for, but you will not change the rules we agreed to.” My tone makes it clear this is not up for debate. He agreed to the deal, and I won’t let him back out of it now.

“Fine,” he grumbles, before turning to his guy who has been sitting in the computer chair watching the whole exchange. “Turn off the live feed camera, Les.”

“Of course, Sir,” he replies quickly, before clicking away at his keyboard.

After a few seconds, the screen I was looking at goes black, and I breathe a sigh of relief. Until I hear Kellan clearing histhroat behind me. I turn to him, only to find him shooting daggers at Les.

“You will want to actually turn off the cameras remotely, not just power down the screens, so it looks like they’re off. While they’re on standby right now, they can be turned on at any moment, and they’ll still record,” he explains, keeping his stare trained on Les, whose eyes widen the more Kellan speaks.

I flick my gaze over to The Sheriff, scowling at him. “Do not fuck with me on this, Sheriff.”
