“C’mon, Tizio.” His whine deserves to earn him a beating just for getting on my nerves.

“Talk or your debt is doubled, and you don’t want that.” I lean in. “There’s no one but the bartender, and he’s doing inventory.”

He half splutters something, and then he nods. “There’s been talk of something called the Smith Group poking in. The Renegades are affiliated with the Lowlanders, last I heard. They’re saying Smith is forcing prices up to where only the elite can afford them.”

“See? That wasn’t too fucking hard, was it?” I smile. “Tell me about Genesis. and the missing girls.”

The small house smells delicious when I get there. I know about the outing because Nadia’s got her head screwed on right. They must have been a sight, I think, helping myself to a cookie.

The entourage of ladies and security trailing them. Wendy can make it invisible or as obvious as fuck, and considering it was two De Luca ladies along for the ride, it would have been out in the open.

I straighten things up, even though everything’s pretty fucking neat. The place is being watched, but as Nadia, Avah, and the little friend all left, no one but Karlee’s here.

Karlee and me.

I shift a little, pour a whiskey, and nab another cookie.

“Great,” comes a voice, heavy on sarcasm, “you’re home. If I have to deal with you, I’ll have one of those.”

“Not on my watch, little girl.”

Her shadow spills from the doorway of the bedroom, and my guts tighten. How the fuck can a shadow turn me on?

“You keep calling me little girl, and I’m going to think you’ve got a fetish.”

I laugh because it’s not her age that’s a turn-on, or when she acts like a dumbass kid, it’s the brat that needs to be taught how to submit that appeals. It’s the woman, the curves, that fucking mouth.

She comes out of the room, tossing her hair, the shirt down near her elbows, and the stretchy black top hugging her in all the right places.

Of course, all that’s pushed aside by the copious amount of ink suddenly adorning her.

Karlee comes up, takes my drink, and forces it down. Our gazes meet, and then I drop mine, moving slowly over the new ink.

I take my glass from her, set it down, and then pull the shirt off her. She smiles, winks, and that deliberate, ham-fisted flirt grabs me by the dick as Karlee turns and shows me her back tattoo.

The red-haired woman with the skull and crossbones, the only fucking real ink on her.

“I’m going out tonight.”

“No, you’re not. At fucking all.”

She tosses her hair and looks at me, turning slowly to let me get a good look at the sleeves and tattoos on her breasts, and it’s all I can do to stop from rolling my eyes. “Mad?”

“Fuck no, but it’s not just blondes that have gone missing, Karlee.”

Oh yeah, Johnny might not know about anything called Genesis, but he did tell me that the occasional dark-haired beauty’s gone missing. He claims on their own, as in runaways. I’m taking zero fucking chances because this thing gets murkier by the second.

He also hinted that O’Grady is looking to expand, and the Lowlanders for a way to cause trouble, or to pull trouble from the De Luca clan. . . a far more dangerous move.

With all this shit bundled, she’s going exactly nowhere.

Karlee raises her chin. “Like I care.”

“You should, unless it’s your fantasy to be used by countless men.”

I don’t explain further. She narrows her eyes. “You can’t scare me.”

“Then you’re a fucking idiot.”
