He stopped, turned, and looked at me with a look I’d never seen on his face before.

Resentment.

“I will.”

And just like that, he stormed into his room and went to slam the door behind him, but he stopped with it cracked. “Rubbing alcohol’s under the sink.”

“Fuck you!”

He shut his door with athud.

Scowling, I made my way into the bathroom and started to clean my wounds.

Part of me—okay, a lot of me—wanted to obsess over what Grace’s ex said about how she killed someone.

It was probably just a bunch of bullshit meant to start drama. I had a feeling Grace and what’s-his-face were one of those couples that werealldrama, and I didn’t want to get involved.

Still, though, I couldn’t help but wonder…

Guess Noah was going to find out.

It wasn’t like I was throwing him under the bus. Hell, I wasn’t even pushing him in front of the bus.

He was walking into the middle of a busy road, expecting traffic was going to stop for him.

I sucked air through my teeth as I pressed the wipe soaked with rubbing alcohol to my knuckles.

It hurt. But not as much as…

I couldn’t find the words.

For once, I didn’t have the words.

Grace

“So, what would you like to talk about today?” Dr. Silk asked as I sank onto the familiar blue couch.

I looked into her silvery, caring eyes and prepared myself to lie. “I’ve had an… an unusual week. But I feel better.”

I wasn’t going to tell my therapist about any of the guys. Hell, I decided I wasn’t going to tell anyone about the guys. At least, not yet.

But I did want to talk about something.

“I was… wondering if we could talk about my mother today,” I said.

Even though Disgrace wasn’t in me anymore, and for some reason took the form of Grayson or whatever, sometimes there were subjects I was still nervous about.

This was one of them.

The seed of my anxiety.

The Incident.

“Of course you can talk about your mother,” Dr. Silk said.

I expected her to change her posture or something. Or lean forward with interest. Any of the tells I was used to looking for when I was about to tell Effie something juicy.
