What the hell just happened?
Sam reappeared in the doorway holding a glass of ice water.
My gaze dropped down his body.
God, he wasso hot.His wide chest tapered down to his slim waist, and drying sweat highlighted all of his beautiful muscle contours.
“You’re like a statue,” I said.
Sam’s sculpted lips quirked into a grin with pride and set the glass on the nightstand next to me. “It’s you who is statuesque, my dear.” He ran his fingers along the duvet, tracing my shape. “Exquisite, really.”
I smiled and sat up again.
Sam sat on the edge of the bed next to me.
I reached for the glass of water. As soon as I wrapped my fingers around it, the hiss of the shower quieted.
I glanced at Sam.
He smirked.
“What?”
“I’m just… wondering how he’s gonna handle this.”
“What? Us?”
“Yeah. It’ll be… amusing,” he said with a Cheshire Cat grin. “He’s gonna try to categorize everything. Label it. He’ll try to make sense of it by dividing it into less than what it is. Just watch.”
I took a sip of the cool water and kept my eyes on the doorway.
Nervousness swirled through me.
What? Why was I nervous?
It felt like I was about to get “caught” or something…
Noah appeared in the doorway with a white towel hanging low around his hips.
As he stepped into the room, the beads of water dripping down his clean, muscular body glistened like diamonds.
He returned to his chair and eyed me, his irises shining gold in the slanting afternoon sunbeams. “So.”
My body tensed. “So?”
Noah drew in a long breath through his nose, then let it out in a quiet sigh. “That was weird.”
Sam cackled and flopped backward on the bed.
I furrowed my brow. “Weird?”
Noah glared at Sam and rolled his eyes. Then he looked at me. “Not weird with you… but… look, I’ve never done something like that before.”
“Me neither.”
Sam’s laughter quieted.
Noah and I looked at him.
