I tried to gather my thoughts.

What the hell was Idoing? That was such a perfect little moment, and I’d ruined it.

I’d ruined it—

“…you’re not worthy,” said a silky-smooth voice behind me.

I whirled around.

Nothing.

Just more clothes, stacks of Sam’s dress shoes, and a hamper.

But above the hamper in the corner, there was a curiously-shaped shadow, a little darker than the surrounding shades. If I squinted, it kinda looked like the silhouette of—

“G-Grayson?”

I blinked and it disappeared.

A chill crawled up my spine and my heart started to race.

I scrambled to my feet and dashed from the closet. “Sam! Sam!”

“Grace?!”

“Sam!”

He bolted through the bedroom door and wrapped me in his arms. “What is it?!”

“Y-your closet! There’s someone in there!”

His icy eyes chilled to frigid fury. “What?”

I lifted my gaze over his shoulder and saw Grayson standing in the closet doorway, his eyes—whites and all—were completely black, his mouth smiling too wide to be human.

I screamed.

Sam turned and Grayson disappeared.

“Did you see it?!” I cried.

Sam turned back to me and looked in my eyes with confusion. “See what?”

I took a step backward, stumbled, and fell onto his bed.

Noah ran into the room fully dressed in his stylish white hoodie and black skinny jeans. “What the hell is happening in here?”

“I saw him!” I cried. “In the closet!”

“Saw who?”

“Grayson!”

Sam narrowed his eyes, turned, and disappeared into the closet.

Noah crossed his arms. “Your ex?”

I nodded. “But… he looked different…” I held my face in my hands.
