I grin, loving how fucking cute she looks right now. She changed out of the little dress she wore to work into a retro halter top with cherries all over it and high-waisted shorts. Her face is clean of makeup, and she's got her hair pulled back into a simple ponytail. She's fucking sexy regardless of what she wears, but I love this softer side of her. It's not one she's let me see often. She usually dresses for war when I'm around.

I'm not complaining because I love those fucking dresses she tortures me with, but I like knowing she feels comfortable enough with me to let me see this part of her too. I don't think many people get this side. They get the woman dressed in armor, hiding from the world behind her tattoos and false bravado.

I brush my lips across her bare shoulder, pulling a chair out for her. She settles into it, beaming when I scoot her up to the table.

"This feels like a date, Coby."

"Maybe it is princess," I smirk, dragging my chair around to sit beside her. There's no fucking way I'm sitting across from her all night when I could be right beside her, touching her. "Is it so crazy to think I'd want to date you?"

"Promise not to laugh?"

"At you? Never."

"I've never been on a date."

"Me either." I grimace. "Actually, that's not true. I went on a date when I was fifteen. My mom drove us and then hung out in the parking lot while we ate dinner." I chuckle at the memory. "My date ghosted me when I got picked up by the cops two days later."

Elodie's eyes widen. "You went to jail?"

"Mmhmm." I pull the cover off her plate, grinning when she licks her lips and does a little dance in her chair. "I got busted for tagging a local grocery store."

"Oh, so you were a little rebel, huh?"

"Something like that."

"I can see it," she says, picking up her fork. "You look like trouble."

"And you sound like you're itching for a spanking. Eat your food."

She laughs quietly. "This looks amazing, Coby. Who taught you to cook?"

"You haven't tasted it yet," I warn her. "It might be fucking awful."

She cuts a big bite of chicken and pops it into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully. Once she swallows, she purses her lips. "Well," she says, drawing out the word. "I guess you had to be bad at something."

I toss my fork down, dragging her onto my lap.

"I was just kidding!" she cries. "It's really good."

"Too late," I growl, claiming her mouth in a hard kiss. "You did the crime. Time to pay up, princess."

She moans, spearing her hands into my hair.

We kiss for several long moments, getting lost in each other.

"Fuck," I mutter, pulling back when my dick feels like it's going to break in half. "If you don't quit kissing me, I'm not going to feed you before I fuck you."

"Then quit kissing me. I need energy before you wear me out."

I chuckle, shifting her back into her seat.

We eat in silence for several minutes before she nudges me with her foot.

"I'm mad at you."

"Yeah?" I grin. "You going to keep kissing me like that when you're mad at me? Because if so, please tell me what I did to piss you off so I can keep doing it."

She rolls her eyes at me. "You almost got us caught today, Coby!"

"No, you almost got us caught today, princess. Had you come to my booth like I asked, there wouldn't have been an issue."

"Keegan thinks you're bugging me. I had to talk him out of kicking your butt."

"Uh, he can try." I'm not afraid of Keegan. I'm not worried about him, either. He may not like the thought of me and his sister, but he'll come around to it eventually. I know this because I know him. And I know how much he loves her. He isn't going to do anything that breaks her heart and I think forcing her to choose between the two of us would devastate her.

But I can't make her see that until she's ready to face how she really feels about me. I don't know if she's in love with me yet, but I know she's heading in that direction. Fast. Until she's ready to admit that's what's really going on between us, all I can do is keep trying to get us caught to get this shit out into the open. I don't want to hide her, and I don't want her stressing herself out trying to hide us, either.

She huffs, rolling her eyes at me. "My point is, he's suspicious, so you need to behave."

"I'll consider it."

"Coby! I'm serious."

"So am I. If I get to make you come at least once a day, I'll consider behaving." I shrug. "That's my offer."
