From what he’d been told, Echo had nicked something with the jab. It had been an internal bleed and he’d been out of it for days. Seven and Hunter had hovered over his bed during that time and even Stone had made an appearance. Dave was busy, but he called him every other day. Grit was currently at home with Joshua and Travis.

Echo was the only one who didn’t show up, but then, Ice suspected that Solomon hadn’t told Echo about it.

He’d been there several days and still no show from the assassin. Perhaps it was time to give up? Echo clearly regretted what they’d done on the beach and was definitely not ready for any type of relationship.

Real slid into the hospital room and gave him a smirk. “I told you not to get dead.”

“I’m trying.”

The man shook his head and walked to his bedside. Ice gripped the hand Real held out.

“I’ve got to go, but I’ll be around,” he said.

Seven and Hunter came into the room.

“Hey, this is Real.” Ice made the introductions.

“Okay, I’m going to get going,” Real told him after a moment and Ice gripped his friend’s hand hard.

“Take care.” Real strode from the hospital room and closed the door.

“He seems nice,” Hunter said, arching an eyebrow.

“He’s an old military buddy.”

“Ah, cool.”

“Did Echo kill the mark?” Ice murmured, keeping his voice low even though the door was now closed.

“Yes, but there was a fuck up. There really was a sixteen-year-old girl being trafficked. So, Echo did good,” Hunter said softly.

Ice smiled, shifted, and then grimaced in pain. “I should have listened to him.”

“Yes,” Seven said. “You should have.”

“Come on vacation with us,” Hunter said.

“Huh?” He blinked up at Hunter and then shot a look at Seven, who shrugged.

“We’re taking Josh and Travis along, so you coming won’t be a problem,” Seven said.

“What about my dog?” Ice said.

“Can’t Dave watch him?”

Yeah, Dave had no problem watching Grit and a vacation sounded really good right about then. “Where to?”

“Athens,” Hunter said with a smile.

“I’ve always wanted to see that place.”

“Then come. I’ll pay for your ticket,” Seven said.

“I can buy my own ticket,” Ice huffed and then winced. “I’ll need to be cleared for flying.”

“We will wait,” Hunter assured him.

Ice felt the room whirl and slapped a hand at the hospital tray to keep from spinning. He sent his plate filled with lunch flying and when Seven shouted his name, it came through muffled.
