At the Covenkirk stronghold, Roark brazened the journey from his room to Indy’s, toed off his boots, stripped, and plopped onto the bed where he patted the spot next to him. “Come. Sit nice and close so you can eavesdrop. I don’t want any misunderstandings.”

Once she crawled beside him, naked and so distracting his dick saluted, he looped an arm over her shoulder. He pulled her snug against his chest while he punched in Lort’s number. “My man, how’s it hanging?”

Indy angled the phone toward her ear with no resistance from Roark. He wanted her to hear everything.

“I hope you have completed the mission. Cerberus is having a shit fit,” said Lort.

“You sound pissed, too. Not enough blood or dick, General? You need to take better care of yourself.”

“Though your concern for me warms my cold heart, forget about my problems. It’s Cerberus you should worry about.”

“Is he upset because I and my trusty sidekick knocked off his errand boys?” Roark cradled Indy’s breast in his palm, brushing his thumb across a nipple. It immediately pebbled. His witch was responsive to his touch.

She swatted at his hand, apparently not wanting to combine business and pleasure.

“Put the big guy on so I can assure him of my allegiance.”

“It’s late. Cut the bullshit. Do you possess Blood’s Kiss? If not, I’ll be picking up pieces of you all over Scath when he gets through with you.”

“Lort, he will want to listen to what I have to say.”

Roark grinned at Indy as the vampire general’s boots sounded along a hall. To pass the time while Lort traveled to Cerberus, Roark tried to play with Indy’s breast again. She didn’t cooperate.

Stubborn witch.

“Do you have it?” Cerberus bellowed.

No chit-chat from the big guy who sounded peeved.

“I’m a tad offended. You sent guys after me. Where’s the trust?” asked Roark in a sing-song voice.

“Fuck trust. Do you have it or not?”

“What? No questions about your minions?” Roark crossed his bare ankles, his cock still stiff. Of course, Indy was absentmindedly stroking it while she eavesdropped. She was great at multitasking.

“None.”

“You gave me quite a challenge, but you picked the right male for the job. The witch Indigo,” Roark paused, “I’m sure you’ve heard of her. Witch extraordinaire. Finder of lost objects. Yada. Yada. Yada.” He put a hand over his phone. “Sorry, honey. I don’t need to explain your many talents to this bastard.”

She rolled her eyes, halting with the stroke. He reminded her with a point to his aching appendage.

“Do you have it?” Cerberus’s voice rose a few octaves.

“You seem grumpy. Did I wake you? Anyway, you’re gonna want to know how shit stands between us. I’ve been on quite an adventure. Egypt. Europe. North America. Long story short. I have the sword, but your guys are in pieces.”

Indigo snuggled closer, getting her ear nearer the phone.

“How long before you get it here?” asked the warlock leader of Arisen Dawn.

“Now there’s a short story long. If I liked you, I could be there in about twenty minutes. But I don’t. So, it will take longer.”

“You would be wise, Roark, to stop toying with me. I grow weary of your antics.”

Cerberus was really pissed because Roark heard wind roar, shit rattle, and stuff explode in the background.

He decided to give the guy a break. “How long you ask? Never. I’ll be keeping the weapon.”
