My pussy was already tight and hot, primed from giving him head. I didn’t expect it to be a turn-on. But it was. Seeing him lose control. Knowing it was me who did that to him. It made my pussy ache and my nipples tight. My entire body was humming, begging to come.

I braced one hand on the desk, the other still buried in his hair as I rolled my hips. I fucked his face just like he taught me. Just like he’d done to me.

He growled, letting me know he approved. His fingers dug into my thighs as he kept me spread wide. The sunflower tattoo caught my attention. It was black and gray, stark against my pale skin.

He’d gotten it for me.

He loved me.

I lost it. I didn’t know if it was his tongue circling my clit over and over and over. Or knowing what I meant to him. Or just him. My husband.

Stars burst behind my eyes, and I screamed as my orgasm slammed into me. Sparks of pleasure spread through my veins. Stealing my breath as he continued to lick me through it all.

I trembled, my legs shaking until it became too much. “Vander.”

I whined his name. He chuckled, giving my pussy one more kiss before standing. He grasped the back of my thighs, pulling me across the wood. Until my legs were circled around his waist and my head rested on his chest.

“God, you’re perfect.” I could hear the smile in his voice as he kissed my hair. “Come on. We have to get ready.”

“Ready?” My legs were a little wobbly as he pulled me from the desk. Vander wrapped an arm around my waist to support me. I didn’t need it, but I leaned into him, anyway. Loving how his sandalwood scent mixed with my rose perfume.

“We have that charity dinner.”

“Oh, what is it for again?”

“Some endangered animal.”

I could hear the indifference in his voice, too. I didn’t know if it was the event or worry about keeping me safe. My lips parted to tell him we shouldn’t go. But before I could speak, his office door opened.

“Shit.” I stumbled back as the wood almost hit my face. Vander grabbed me, tucking me to his side again.

“Knocking is polite.” He grumbled to his mother as he rubbed a hand down my hip. But even his touch didn’t stop the little spikes of discomfort seeing Joyce brought. “Mom, what are you doing here?”

My cheeks flooded with heat, wondering how long she’d been here. Had she heard? But when I looked at the pinched expression on her face, I didn’t care. I hope she did hear how he called me perfect. How happy I made him.

Perhaps then she’d be a little nicer. Maybe she’d stop acting like I wanted any of this. Was I happy now, too? Yes. But none of this had been my idea. And she seemed to think I was a gold digger trying to get my claws into her sons.

She pursed her lips as she glanced in my direction. I doubted she even saw the faint scars on my arms before she turned away again. “Are you coming to the event tonight?”

It was then I noticed the long black dress full of sequins she was wearing. It was off the shoulder, revealing more of her skin than was appropriate. But I couldn’t deny it was beautiful.

Vander smoothed a hand down and up my back, grasping the nape of my neck. “No.”

“No?” His mother and I said simultaneously, but hers came with a snort of indignation.

His thumb ran along my pulse as he looked at me when he spoke. “I’m going to have a quiet night with my wife.”

The warmth inside me spread, wrapping itself around my heart. Until his mother’s voice threatened to douse it.

“You are the head of this family.” Her words were clipped. “You have responsibilities.”

“My only responsibility is keeping my wife safe and happy.” He dismissed her, holding the door open, indicating she should walk out first. When she just stood there, he shook his head and left the room.

My body tensed as I ignored Joyce. I tried to make myself as small as possible as I slunk past her.

“I hear you’re moving.” My spine snapped straight. My gaze turned to her.

The breath caught in my lungs as her green eyes narrowed. They were a similar color to Vander’s, but there was something in them that reminded me of Mitchell’s. A familiar expression, maybe. I didn’t know what it was. But it was enough to have my chest tightening.
