"Yes, I'm in for my second visit of the day. Good to see you, Kyra." Turning to me, he asked, "What would you like, Calla? My treat."

"Thank you. I'll have a latte and a cinnamon bun, please." Kyra nodded.

Dom looked over the menu quickly. "Who am I kidding? Just the regular, Kyra, thanks."

"Alright, that's a latte and cinnamon bun and a black coffee with dry foam and… anything to eat, Dr. Harrington?"

"Oh, alright. Throw in a bran muffin, please."

"You got it."

We took our order to a table outside so that we could soak in the sun and grab a little bit of privacy.

The chairs scraped the concrete as we pulled them out. Settling in, I started picking at my cinnamon bun, staying silent.

"So," Dom started. "Sounds like you're having a productive day."

"Mm-hmm. It's going well."

"Well, I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Sure."

"I want you to work on a marketing project for the clinic." He pulled off the top of the muffin and started eating it.

A marketing project? That made me excited, but I was still feeling too stubborn to show it.

"That sounds interesting."

"Yes, I hope it is. But you're the expert in this, so you'll need to put in most of the thought to create it."

"Oh?" I answered, admittedly a little curtly. It seemed like Dom was noting my attitude but not paying any attention.

"Yes, I want to maintain some consistent social media presence with the objective of showing the daily happenings of the clinic, the staff, and highlight some foundation work. Does that sound like something you would like to work on?"

It would be a dream to work on that.

"That's definitely something I could put some structure around."

"Great, so if you could put together a plan for the next Ops Meeting, maybe we can all discuss it together."

OMG, this is a dream. I was going to find it hard to hold this smile in any longer.

"That sounds good. I can do that."

"There's another thing."

"Yes?"

"I've hired Vic to be a consultant to the project. Just in case you need someone to talk to. She's just going to check in on you while I'm gone and she's there if you need someone to bounce ideas off of."

Part of me was okay with this because I did want to get to know Vic better, but part of me felt like Dominic didn't trust that I knew enough. But I had to accept that he was the boss. So, I'm going to focus on the positives.

"That's great. I'm looking forward to getting to know her better." Dom smiled.

"Good. I thought you'd like to have her in your back pocket. So, make the plan and run it by her and see what she thinks before we discuss it." Maybe I looked a little insulted when he said that. "Only because we have no expertise in it, and I'd like her opinion."

Sigh. Fine. I get it.
