Zander’s eyebrows lifted higher than I’d ever seen. He closed his wings and the air rustled, tousling my hair. Zander went after Tank, who sprinted away, leaving Zander by the entrance with his fists clenched as Tank’s laughter echoed on the other side of the cavern.

I shook my head, giggling, but stopped when I got a good look at Zander’s tight ass, and then his front when he turned. Oh, my heavens. Even when not aroused, he was big. I could stare at him all day.

Zander went to the large baskets lined against the back wall, took out a few things, and set a white dress and my sword on the boulder bed.

“The dress is for you.” He gestured toward the fabric.

We had first hidden among the trees in the forest, then in a large empty barn, and now inside a cave. All that time, we had never dressed like humans. We only went out when the sun came down, when most demons did their killings.

After I placed the sword between my plumes, I tucked my wings closed. I couldn’t walk with a weapon sheathed on my back, especially when I had to pretend to be human.

By the time I pushed my arms through the long sleeves, then buttoned it up, Zander had already dressed with a cloak over him. He handed me a pair of flat leather shoes.

I slipped them on and twirled, the fabric swishing around my ankles. When I halted, I ran a finger along the golden thread design around the hem of my sleeve and along the neckline.

“One more thing.” He tossed a white cloak over me and raised the hood over my head. “There. It’s fall so we have to pretend to be cold. Now you’re perfect and you look absolutely …” His lustful gaze raked me from head to toe as his voice became gruff. “Beautiful. And mine.”

The word mine—predatory and possessive—sent a pleasurable sensation to my stomach and lower. I pushed back those feelings before I straddled Zander and had my way with him.

“The dress is beautiful,” I said. “Thank you.”

“Not as beautiful as you, Little Dove.” His gaze pierced into mine as he stroked my golden hair and curled a dark strand around his finger.

“Stop acting like lovebirds and let’s go already.” Tank’s voice echoed from somewhere in the cavern.

Zander and I laughed.

“Shall we?” He gave me his hand.

I linked my arm with his and strolled to where our team waited by the stream, water gently rippling as the light filtered through and bounced around the cavern with rainbow colors.

“Ready?” Tank furrowed his brow. “Took you long enough. You just got dressed, right … wait a second. Unless you decided to do a quickie and—”

I patted his cheeks. “No, we didn’t. We behaved this time. And if I were you, I would stop teasing Zander before he loses his temper.”

“Yes, ma’am.” He bent at the waist in a mock bow.

“We should get going.” Dawn waved a hand toward the entrance, covered by the clouds.

It was then I noticed Snow and Dawn wore no cloaks.

I curled my lips into a smirk and walked backward, Zander matching my steps. I slowly released my wings to their full length and fanned them once, twice, and faster as I reached the edge.

“The last one down the mountain owes a favor.” I dove and plummeted, my cloak flapping widely. The hood jerked off my head and my hair tousled violently.

“Wait for me.” Snow’s voice drifted with the gale.

I loved this feeling. This freedom. When the world around me disappeared. I plunged through what seemed like endless clouds and passed the snowcapped mountains and the river snaking around the rolling hills, and then tiny villages came to view.

Someone flipped me over and pressed his body to mine while we still nose-dived. No one could catch up to me except for Zander.

“Are you getting as aroused as I am right now?” I didn’t know flirting and teasing could be so much fun.

“All the time when I look at you.”

“Good,” I purred. “But I planned to be the first to land. So, sorry my love, for what I’m about to do.”

His eyes widened.
