“A lot of repeating what you’ve already said,” she utters underneath the crowd of the restaurant.

“You wanna eat first?”

She shakes her head and that’s when I put on my game face. When I’m going to win my woman back, I’m going to make her scream my name so fuckin’ loud that her orgasm is going to link back up to me again. And I’m gonna be the only thing she wants in her head moving forward from this day out.

We still haven’t spoken about the shit that needs to be said, all the maneuvering that is just waiting on the green light. But it’s been too long since she and I have been together.

And I’m bursting at the seams just to have her in my arms again.

Throwing a hundred-dollar bill on the table, I rise, prompting Liv to do the same. Bending over to take one last sip of her coke, I don’t know if she’s purposely teasing me or thirsty.

Regardless, my fingers flex once to keep myself in check before she sends me a seductive little look that’s only for me as she passes.

I follow her out, noticing her grab the attention of a few basic fucks, but I don’t care. It’s one thing to appreciate Liv’s beauty in its entirety.

It’s another to touch it.

When we get into my rental car, I have to be careful to follow law-abiding rules on the way to my hotel.

My palm finds its way to her upper thigh, stroking the naked flesh there with my thumb as Liv tries her best not to wiggle through her anxiety.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, too.

I’d also be a fucking asshole if I vouch that I’d love to talk about all our shit later after I fuck her but it’s not the responsible thing to do.

But since when have I been responsible?

Arriving at the hotel, I guide her to my room which has a great view of the ocean. I figured that, no matter what I was here for, I might as well get a good look at the Pacific Ocean for the first time. Even if Liv told me to take a long fucking walk off a short pier.

I push the door open for her to amble inside and the moment she walks through the threshold, my body can’t take being away from her any longer. I practically slo-mo stalk her through the room as she soaks it in and notices the Jacuzzi in the far left-hand corner.

“You plan on taking a bubble bath or something while you were here?” she asks me, still not turning around to look at me, but I give her some space to adjust to my being back and us in the same room together.

“It was the only one they had.”

“It’s nice.”

It’s whatever.

King-sized bed, light blue walls that seem to match the ocean, TV, small table, balcony to look out at the Pacific, and the most beautiful woman that ever walked the planet opening the sliding door to inspect that, too.

I stare at her as she gazes out and it’s now or never. My girl needs closure and confidence that I’m gonna ride or die in this relationship. That we’re not gonna have a repeat of what happened before.

Unless she has some husband stored away somewhere that I don’t know about.

Then I’m gonna have to kill him.

“We need to talk.”

“I thought we just did.” She glances over her shoulder at me, leaning up against the wooden railing overlooking the ocean.

“I know you have a million and one things runnin’ through your head right now, Opie. I just want you to know that I’m a hundred percent in, baby. I know this shit is crazy, but I can’t think of another way to do it. To show you how serious I am. To get a fresh start where I’ll never leave you doubting how I feel about you ever again.”

She slowly turns around and leans against the wood banister. “This is a big step.”

“You’re a big deal.” Her blue eyes drop and I’m not sure if it’s to hide a blush or if she’s not buying my brand of compromise. “I said it before and I’ll keep sayin’ it…I love y?—”

“Have you had your head examined in the last month?” she asks me, completely and utterly serious as I observe every move she makes. “This is very not you.”
