I roll my eyes and lean my butt up against the counter. Yes, he’s hot, but I’m not a boring ugly duckling either. “Right. That’s exactly what I was thinking.”

He glances over my head toward the back, then throws me another curveball. “You want kids?”

The hell is happening here?

“You’re not going to propose by the end of this trip, are you?” I jest, trying to crawl out of having to answer that question.

I don’t want to lie.

But I will if I have to.

“Haven’t decided yet.” His moss green eyes flick back down to look at me and, for a moment, my breath is taken away. “Is your mom gonna make me if she sees us making out?”

The more he plays along with this, the more I wish I never would’ve asked him in the first place. Every idea that pops into his head that he doesn’t filter out before it makes it to my ears makes my body crave it.

“You won’t have to worry about that happening,” I divulge flatly. “Because it won’t happen”

“Says who?”

“Says you.” I cross my arms along my chest because the idea of Hudson sandwiching me in between a hard surface and his body is almost too much for my cheeks to bear. “There’s no amount of months that would make you do PDA.”

“You didn’t try.”

“I’m not stupid either.”

His lips coil at the corners. “You may have gotten more dates out of me if you would’ve sweetened the pot.”

“How?”

“I dunno.” He steps closer and lifts both of his inked arms to cage me against the counter, leaning against the edges. “I’m sure you could’ve cooked up some things in your head.”

“You’re not ready for those.”

Hudson lifts a brow. “Oh yeah? Give me one.”

I’ve already noticed how much Hudson loves a challenge and that he’s not too old to not keep up with me.

However, I love pushing lines and I’m never one to easily back down when cornered.

“For PDA?” I repeat, pushing out my cheek with the tip of my tongue as if I’m thinking of something good. “Since I’d be benefiting from it on the outside, I would probably suggest something to do on the inside.”

“Such as?”

“For every time you kissed me on the lips, I’d wrap mine around your cock.”

I swear I see Hudson shudder, because his jaw sets in a hard line. His chest barely brushes mine before leaning over and whispering, to my utter amazement and awe, “I guess I fucked up then.”

HUDSON

I couldn’t sleep. Being in a house that wasn’t mine and around people I didn’t know with the thick animosity that lived within the thin walls of this family. Liv and Norah glared at each other during dinner. Liv’s dad, Richard, was oblivious to the entire ordeal and even the little shots Emily would throw at her youngest daughter.

The only saving grace at dinner was Norah’s fiancé, Martin. The dude kept going on and on about sports and work. Speaking of things that were so above my pay grade, but I was just happy he spoke so Norah would shut her judgy-ass mouth. However, Emily remained vigilant throughout the whole thing, studying us under a microscope, because I think she knows.

We’re not together.
