And off.

And off some more.

It’s past her bugging the living shit out of me at this point. She barely spoke to me in the mountains—to my utter fucking relief—while her oldest daughter Norah interrogated me like I was a felony fresh out of prison.

So why Emily is up my entire ass is beyond my comprehension and I don’t want to understand it.

I just want her to fuck off and go play in traffic during rush hour.

HUDSON: Olive and I broke up.

Simple, to the point, and done.

The messaging abruptly stops, procuring my peace and quiet the rest of the way into Rapture Ink. Once inside, I get started on the inventory—something that requires zero human interaction.

However, I barely get any of that.

In fact, almost an hour into my serenity, the door to my office flies open to allude to how much I’m not alone and will never get solace when a blonde little bombshell works for me.

Glancing up from my laptop, a picturesque view of Liv in a nude-colored tee and shredded skinny jeans fills my focus. My cock jerks to attention, fully awake, because for a second there, I thought she was naked.

Memories of touching her and spreading her open for me has been on my fucking mind like a tick. I knew she was wet for me. Her breathing was skewed and I wanted to hear her moan my name while I sunk my digits inside her tight little pussy to see how long it would take me to make her come.

“You told my mother that we broke up already?”

Eh, shit.

Through her pissed-off state, I can’t help but steal a glance at how perfect her tits are as they stare right back at me when Liv stands directly in front of my desk.

Time to cut this shit all the way off.

“I did.”

“Why?” She points to her chest which I’m trying to ignore. “That was my responsibility, not yours. My God, did I need to write down everything for you? You just had to show up with me, not speak for me.”

My eyes turn into narrowed slits because I also didn’t ask to be fucking annoyed days after our weekend getaway either. “Relax.”

“You relax,” she throws back. “In what universe did you think?—”

“Opie, I swear to fucking Christ, if you don’t get out?—”

“Tell me, Hudson,” she spits out as I stare blankly at my laptop to keep from losing my whole shit. “You had no right. Now she’s been blowing up my phone?—”

“Now you know how I feel,” I retort, glancing up at her and finding that beautiful sunshine blonde hair flowing freely down her shoulder. “She’s been on my ass about family events since before I even had my eyes open.”

Liv’s brows scrunch together, and she’s silent for a moment before she asks, “How did she get your number?”

So the mystery continues…

I shrug my shoulders because none of that matters right now. “Don’t know, don’t care. All I’m fully cognizant of is that I’m rid of her…for my own sanity.”

“Then don’t respond,” she bites back. “Dude?—”

“I’m your fucking boss, Opie,” I bark out, my sleepiness yanking out my non-morning-person personality and shortage of dialogue. “Watch how you fucking talk to me in my own office.”

She points an accusing finger at me, ignoring my warning and going right back to what she was talking about. “You’re not following along?—”

“I went to the cabin with you for your father’s birthday and held your hand through dinner.” She stares at me as if I’m the biggest fucking idiot of all time. That we’re on some fifth-grade bullshit where I couldn’t do more than that. That I didn’t know how to do more than that. “Did you want me to fuck you on that table, too?”
