Then I remember, she’s not mine anymore.

She’s also not here. That would be impossible.

Arianna’s in New York.

CHAPTER 41

Arianna

When we landed in Moscow, Blake paid off the customs officer and just like that we had our documents and could freely move about the city. Blake had a car bring us to a posh hotel where we stayed in a couple of their best suites. Personal shoppers delivered our new wardrobes and everything else we needed. I knew Blake Baron was wealthy, but the way he’s been throwing money around the past few days has been eye-opening.

Money really can get you anything. Even information.

Within twenty-four hours of arriving, Blake’s sources found Konstantin Kozlov and we figured out that he’d be attending a popular MMA event next weekend. Chances were good that Dimitri would be there too. It was our first solid lead.

As it turns out, Konstantin is a well-known figure in Moscow which made him relatively easy to track down—according to Blake.

That’s why we’re here on this Saturday night, among the masses, working our way through the crowd. The place stinks of testosterone, and I’m reminded of the fight Dimitri took me to in The Pit. That night seems like ages ago now. So much has changed since then.

Sophia taps my shoulder. “Roman and I are going to search that side. You stay with Blake, okay?”

“Okay.” I glance at Blake. He nods, ushering me forward with his hand hovering near my lower back, but not quite touching me. We’re looking for Dimitri on the other half of the venue.

He must be here. At the very least, we hope to get a good look at Konstantin and his security detail. One way or another we’re getting Dimitri away from him.

If you told me a week ago that I’d be in Moscow right now with my sister and two billionaires on a rescue mission, I’d have called you crazy. A few months ago, the old me would have left Dimitri to his fate. But not now. I’m not leaving this country until I get my husband back.

Life really is full of twists and turns.

First, we search the front few rows because those are some of the best seats in the house. There’s no sign of Dimitri, or Konstantin, or Boris. Where could they be?

A sudden prickle of awareness causes my skin to tingle. Someone’s watching me. Intuition tells me exactly who it is…

My gaze lifts to the VIP boxes and collides with Dimitri’s. For a moment my heart leaps with joy. Until I notice the three women hanging all over him, touching him, murmuring into his ear. They’re all gorgeous and obviously eager to please him.

My pulse stutters. A jealous rage vibrates through my entire body. They need to get their hands off of my husband. He’s mine.

Then doubt and insecurity creeps in. He looks like a king holding court. Powerfully lording over his domain. He’s not trying to fight off those women who are claiming him like they have every right to do so.

Did we get it all wrong? Maybe Dimitri did leave me, divorce me, and run off to Russia with his father for a fresh start. It’s possible, right?

My thoughts and feelings are a jumbled mess as I watch Dimitri excuse himself and exit the VIP box. He comes down the stairs and I meet him at the bottom. Blake hovers nearby while also giving us space.

Hesitantly, I approach Dimitri. His face is painful to look at, partly because of the bruising, but mostly because of the coldness in his green eyes. There’s no welcoming warmth in his expression either. This isn’t the man I know. What’s happened to him?

He breaks the heavy silence between us. “What the fuck are you doing here?”

I recoil. This is not the reunion I’ve been picturing. My heart plummets.

“I… I came to rescue you.” My words fall flat, seeming pointless and rather pathetic given the situation.

His brow dips. “Rescue me? You divorced me, remember? Isn’t that enough or are you here to rub that in?”

“I divorced you?” My temper flares. What the hell is he talking about? “You know damn well I didn’t sign those papers.”

He scowls, seemingly deep in thought.

Snapping out of whatever foul mood he’s in, he grabs my arms and hauls me into a short, quiet hallway. His body cages me against the wall, cloaking me in his familiar scent. I deeply inhale. God, I’ve missed him.
