"Chad," she said slowly, “I think it's the biggest home I've seen in the Garden District." Her voice was hoarse.

"I can guarantee that it is," I said.

The van was already parked in front, and there was no one there, which meant they'd already unloaded all of the bags. I saw my brothers' cars scattered around the street.

All right, so everyone was here. We were going to make a grand entrance.

When we got out of the car, I looked at Scarlett closely. She beamed as she took in the house and then glanced at me.

"You know, when you said everyone lives together, I truly couldn't picture it, but I assume everyone has their own wing of sorts."

"That was the initial idea, but it didn’t work out like that. The grandparents use the ground floor so they don't have to deal with stairs, and my parents are on the upper levels. They make it work."

She grinned. "Funny, when I was a kid, I always thought that when my parents were old, I was going to buy them a cute house not far away from me just so I could look out for them."

Fucking hell, this woman.I didn't think I could like her even more, but the longer I knew her, the more she proved me wrong.

"Let's go inside," I said.

"Is anyone expecting me?"

"Only my brothers," I said.

"So you didn't tell anyone else?" She sounded panicked. It was so damn endearing.

"It's going to be fine, I promise."

"Okay. It's showtime," she said and wiggled her hips.

I wanted to pull her against me and kiss her senseless. How the hell was I supposed to drop her off at her home later tonight after I’d had her all to myself this week?

We walked together up the front steps. I didn't need to ring the bell because they always left the front door open when they were expecting us. We simply went inside.

Scarlett looked around with a warm smile. "This house has such a good vibe. It's so welcoming."

"I think so too," I replied. "And somehow they managed to agree on decorating it in a style that pleases everyone."

We only heard faint voices, which meant everyone was in the living room, farther away from the entrance. I guided Scarlett there.

As soon as we stepped inside the living room, Bella yelled, "Daddy, you're here," and then ran straight toward me.

I'd missed my little girl so damn much. Whenever she was away, it felt like a part of me was gone.

I lowered myself onto my haunches, opening my arms wide, and she jumped straight into them, the way she did when she was tiny. Then I rose to my feet with her in my arms, hugging her tighter and then tighter still.

She gave me a huge kiss on the cheek and then pulled back, smiling at me. Then she turned to Scarlett.

"Hi, Scarlett."

"Hey, Bella. I can't wait to hear about your week."

"Dad, can you put me down? I want to hug Scarlett too."

I felt a pang of jealousy. Actual jealousy. My girl usually liked to stay in my arms for at least ten minutes after a trip.

She hugged Scarlett just as tightly as she'd hugged me.

"I had so much fun," she said when she pulled back. "I got autographs from Cinderella and from all the princesses and from Snow White."
