“What are we doing tonight?" I asked.

He wiggled his eyebrows, making me laugh. "How about strolling the night market on Frenchmen Street?"

"I’d love that." Just like that, I didn't feel exhausted anymore.

"I actually intended to take you there last week, but..."

I giggled. "Yeah."

We couldn't really keep our hands off each other long enough to make plans outside the house, and that was more than fine by me. But I was looking forward to tonight.

***

The night market was amazing. Street vendors were selling an array of things—mostly art. I especially loved a huge painting of Jackson Square at sunset. The sky colors were amazing. I wondered how it would look in my studio. There were twinkle lights hanging above us all the way. I wasn't an art connoisseur, but some of the paintings truly spoke to my soul. I also had my eye on a leather purse at a stand that sold handcrafted items, but it was too expensive. I simply liked soaking up everything, especially the jazz music surrounding us.

"Anything you want, let me know, okay?"

"I love walking around."

We also passed by a stand that sold tarot cards and crystals, plus all sorts of weird items that I didn't recognize, but mostly we were surrounded by paintings and sculptures.

After we went through the market once, Chad asked, "Want to go back and buy anything?"

"No. I like for things to marinate in my head."

"But you seemed to really like that painting of Jackson Square."

I smiled. "It's my favorite spot in the city. But I don't like to buy things on instinct. I'm assuming I'll find it again if I come to the night market."

"Probably," he admitted.

His phone beeped. He took it out and grunted.

"What's wrong?"

"Sarah says that Bella asked to sleep at home tomorrow evening because she misses her Hedwig curtains."

"Oh my God!" I put a hand to my chest.I just melted."I can't believe she loves them that much."

"She’d sleep wrapped up in them if she could."

"That just gave me an idea. I could buy herHarry Potter-themed sheets. The store in the Quarter didn't have any that I could see, but I could stop by again. Or I’ll buy them online.”

He smiled at me. "Want to go home?"

"Sure."

“We can walk, and I’ll get the car tomorrow.”

“Yes, let’s do that.”

We weren’t far from his house, so it made sense. Besides, it was a fantastic evening for a stroll. The days were getting hotter, but the humidity was bearable in the evening.

“So, this means we'll be spending tomorrow together, right?”

Chad tilted his head. "You don't mind?"

"Look at this smile," I said, pointing at my face. "Does it look like I mind? I'm ecstatic about it."
