“Satisfied?” she asked.

“Never.” I answered inching closer. “So the good girl does bad things after all. Next time I make you prove it, I’m getting more than panties.”

She looked up at me with hooded eyes, barely breathing. Heat mingled between us in whorls so potent, I hoped to God nobody lit a match.

We’d both go up in flames.

I broke the connection before I did something stupid like kiss her. Because don’t get me wrong—if I hadn’t been sure before, I was absolutely certain now. I was going to kiss her. But not here, and not like this, and God help us all when Cass found out.

I promised her Jessa was safe with me, and that was no lie.

But I never said I wouldn’t fool around with her.

I caught Henry’s eye and pointed at the bizarre stuffed animal in her arms with a smile.

“Don’t worry,” I shouted, hand cupped to my mouth. “I got it.”

When I made sure he was good and pissed, I gave Jessa another smile.

“See you at home, Duchess.”

And I strode off, swaggering away like I ruled the whole entire world, with her panties in my fist and a hard on that was about to be right behind them.

JESSA

I stood there like an idiot watching the back of that stupid shirt and tiny shorts disappear into the crowd, contemplating all the ways I might kill him.

Poison was too easy. Knives too messy. No—I’d like to kill him with my bare hands wrapped around his throat. Sitting on the topographical map he called a torso, his ribs between my thighs, Adam’s apple in my palm. I’d bet he wouldn’t even fight me. He’d likely slide his hands up my skirt to my bare backside and?—

For God’s sake, would you shut up already?

The deep breath I took trembled coming in and stuttered coming out. Never had I felt so out of control, not in all my life. But there was no anticipating Remy. The second I thought I had him, he managed to bite me in the bum.

Briefly, I wondered what it would feel like for him to bite my bum.

A noise somewhere between a roar and a groan escaped me as I turned for my friends.

I’d gone completely mental.

Cass was still stuck with the old ladies, so I slapped on a smile and squeezed in.

“Excuse me, ladies—I need to steal her back. So sorry!”

Her eyes sighed a thank you as she said goodbye and we stole away.

“What the just happened with you and Remy?” she whisper-yelled before we’d taken a second step.

There was absolutely no way to tell her I’d just given my underpants to her cousin. “Nothing. He was just being himself.”

“That’s terrible. I’m so sorry.”

I chuckled, adjusting the stupid stuffed animal given to me by the wrong guy. Maybe I could suffocate him with it in his sleep.

“I thought Henry was supposed to win you one of those,” she said.
