I missed you both too. Five minutes and I’ll be by your side, I reply, tucking my phone back into my pocket when Robert motions me over.

“Get a call up to Melody’s suite, let her know we’ve arrived,” he instructs, before striding off to the function room where the wedding will take place.

Sterling swipes a hand over his face. “Fuck this bullshit,” he grumbles, reaching for the flask in his jacket. He unscrews the lid, knocking back a mouthful.

“You might want to go easy, mate,” I say. “Last thing you need is those vultures getting photos of you half-cut.”

“Don’t really give a shit,” Sterling replies, swallowing another mouthful.

“Just get through today, and then you can get out of here,” I remind him.

He nods. “Just one more fucking day.”

Gripping his shoulder briefly, I head to the reception desk where Dalton is waiting.

“Everything good?” he asks me.

I raise a brow. “If you’re talking about security, then everything’s wrapped up. If, however, you’re talking about Sterling,” I say, glancing over at my friend who is heading towards the function room, “Then no. We’re going to have to keep an eye on him today. He’s spiralling.”

“Yeah, I figured,” Dalton acknowledges. “Lia and Toby are waiting with the other guests.”

“I know, I just texted her.”

Dalton grins. “Not going to lie, she looks fucking incredible.”

“Don’t piss me off, Dalton,” I warn him.

“You haven’t seen her in her dress yet?” he asks, cocking his head with a sly smile.

“She wanted it to be a surprise after Daisy took her shopping to the boutique in town a couple days ago. I gave Daisy my credit card and instructed her to buy them both a dress on me, and Toby a suit.”

“Well, you’re going to shit yourself when you see her. She’s stunning.”

“Dalton!”

“Just stating a fact. You’re a lucky son-of-a-bitch.”

“I hope you’ve been treating Daisy with respect,” I say, changing the subject before I get the urge to punch him for even daring to look at my woman.

Dalton laughs. “She’s gone back to ignoring me, if that helps? I haven’t seen her yet this morning. Figured she’s already in the function room with Lia and Toby.”

“You two are a pain in my arse,” I grumble. “Now do me a favour and make a call to Melody’s suite, tell her Robert and Sterling have arrived.”

“You got it,” he replies, picking up the phone and dialling the number.

I crick my neck, waiting for Dalton to finish his conversation before heading into the function room with him. His voice trails off mid-sentence as he looks over my shoulder at someone.

“Fucking hell,” he mutters, then quickly apologises before placing the handset back onto the cradle.

“What?” I ask, slowly twisting around to see Daisy rushing towards us both from the elevators, the skirt of her pretty pale pink dress fluttering around her legs as she moves. She’s holding the material of her skirt in her hands, showing off her slim ankles wrapped in the delicate straps of her silver heels.

“Daise, you look beautiful,” I say, my smile spreading wide as pride fills my chest. I particularly like the fact she’s wearing the necklace and earrings I bought for her for Christmas. The necklace rests against her chest, the sweetheart neckline showing off the smattering of freckles covering her skin.

She grins, her cheeks flushed pink, her hair piled up on her head, tendrils framing her face. Daisy usually wears thick black liner on her eyes, but today she has gone for brown eyeshadow and soft pink lipstick that compliment her skin tone, and highlight her natural beauty.

“I’m running a little late. Had a fight with the straighteners trying to deal with my unruly curls so I had to put my hair up,” she explains, a little breathlessly as she glances at Dalton, eyes narrowing. “What’s up with you?”

He clears his throat. “This isn’t the Daisy show,” he retorts sharply.
