“Thank you,” was my sweet mewl. “You’re really good at taking orders. I like your initiative.”

“I just hope we can keep this up in the future,” he said. “We don’t have to do anything at work. We’ll do everything over here at my place. That is, if you want.”

I was too spent to put critical thought into the matter. “Maybe.”

But we had to move on, so I got up and began to get dressed, switching from my sexual side to my business side.

“My mom is coming by tomorrow at work,” I stated matter of factly. “We’re not just going to keep things professional. We have to be on our absolutely best behavior. In fact, you shouldn’t even look at me or look towards my office. No flirting, no longing glances, no reasons to make her suspicious.”

“Who said I was doing ‘longing glances’?” he said with a smirk. “But fine.”

I shot him a look.

“There can be nothing that goes on that might make her even think we know each other in any other way than boss and intern. Seriously, I can’t mess up in front of her, and I need you to cooperate.”

His brows went up.

“Laurie, I’m cooperating. Don’t freak out. I’m not going to fuck things up for you. I’ll be busy working and pretend you two don’t even exist.”

“Good,” I said as I finished dressing.

“Do you and your mom get along?” he asked curiously.

“I get along with both of my parents,” I replied. “My mom can just be… a bit overbearing at times. She promoted me to editor-in-chief quickly because she said she believes in me, but I’ve seen only weak evidence of that so far.”

“At least your parents are rich,” Shawn said in an off-hand manner. “My dad has problems even holding a steady job.”

Hmm, that was interesting.

“Are you close to your parents?” I wondered.

There was a silence as Shawn looked away.

“My mom took off when I was two,” he answered. “She told my dad that being a mom wasn’t for her. So she left before I could get to know her. She thought she was doing me a favor.”

“Oh,” was my soft reply.

“I’m really close with my dad, though,” he continued. “I think my mom running out made him want to be tight with me, you know? He’s been really supportive of me while I’ve been trying to find the right magazine gig.”

“I looked over your résumé,” was my response. “I tried looking up the magazine that you said you worked for last, but couldn’t find anything about them online.”

He shot me a wry smile.

“Yeah, because they don’t exist anymore,” he said. “They went bankrupt and basically disappeared overnight.”

“Oh, wow.”

He shrugged.

“They were awful, so it’s not a big deal. They didn’t give me any opportunities to advance, they didn’t pay, and they treated all of us like garbage.”

“Well, I hope you like our magazine better,” I said.

“Trust me, anything is better than what I had before,” he said with a wry smile.

I grabbed my purse and went for the door.

“Remember,” came my last warning.

But Shawn grinned at me, holding three fingers up in a pledge.

“I’ll behave,” he finished. “Scout’s honor.”

And with a laugh, I departed. Because I trusted him. He had a sense of humor and was great in bed, which helped alleviate the insane stress that came with my job. Hmm, maybe I should keep him around … especially if Shawn continued to behave.

Shawn

I was keeping my promise. My eyes were on my work, and I didn’t even look in Laurie’s direction. But I was thinking about the beautiful brunette. How much she loved being with me. How she ordered me around and how hard she came while her pussy was on my mouth. All I wanted was to return to my bedroom and submit to my boss in every way imaginable.

But submitting at work would have to do. Laurie’s mom did eventually come into the building, and it was like a gust of icy air. A lot of employees became instantly nervous, all talk stopping. She said hello to a few people, breezing in with her nose held high. Laurie came out of her office, and they began to walk around the area while chatting amongst themselves.

Every so often, they would walk close by wherever I was. I would smile professionally to acknowledge them, but nothing more. Nothing to give us away.

It was hard, though. I could feel Laurie looking at me, and all I wanted to do was to look back. I could hear the ladies’ voices, but never quite discern what they were discussing.

Toward the end of her mom’s visit, they happened to be talking near my work area. I glanced up casually, and naturally, began to stare at Laurie. I couldn’t help it. My mind and heart would race like crazy whenever she was near because the woman was that beautiful.
