The two exchanged whatcould only be called heated glances with each other, which madeKinley mutter gross as she grabbed Bella by the hand and pulled her into thefamily room. “My parents are all over each other on the full moon.Honestly it makes me want to move out, but the only optionsavailable are in the trailer park and hard pass onthat.”

“What’s wrong with thetrailer park?”

“Nothing, it’s just full ofunmated males.”

“Ah, gotcha. I’d pass onthat too.”

“It would be awesome if wehad an apartment complex like you do,” she said wistfully, “but nosuch luck. I think I’m stuck here until I find mytruemate.”

“Do you think he’s in thepack?”

“Nah. Although, my mom anddad knew each other for years and then one day they just knew theywere truemates.” Kinley shrugged, her dark hair sliding over hershoulder. “I guess you never know.”

McKenna peeked into the family room.“Do you want snacks or do you want to wait to eat until theget-together?”

“I’m fine with waiting,”Bella said.

“Me too, thanksMom.”

“Sure thing. We’re leavingfor Jason and Cade’s at four, I’m on non-shifter mate and kid dutywith Lindy and Faith tonight.”

“Sounds fun.”

McKenna disappeared.

“What’s non-shifter mateand kid duty?”

“Lindy and her mate Crimsonare in charge of guarding the mates who can’t shift, like ifthey’re human or another type of supernatural creature or have beeninjured and aren’t able to anymore, and also the kids who are tooyoung to shift.”

Kinley gave her a curiouslook. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Our pack is wolves only.If someone wanted to mate a human or another type of shifter, they’d have to leave.”

“Really? That stinks.” Herbrows rose. “Oh shit, what if your truemate ends up being human?Would your dad really kick you out?”

“Yeah. But at the rate I’mgoing, no one will want to mate me anyway, so I’ll just be aloneforever. Maybe I could get a cat. I could be one of those catladies.”

Kinley rolled her eyes with a chuckle.“Don’t give up hope yet, you’re only twenty-three. Maybe tonight isthe night you meet your truemate. Who knows what will happen whenwe get to the alphas’.”

* * *

McKenna drove Kinley andBella through town to the alphas’ home, a two-story colonial with alarge front porch and a carefully manicured front lawn, that wascurrently covered with vehicles. When they got out, she could smellgrilled meat and hear voices.

“So we’ll introduce you toAlpha Jason and his mate Cadence,” McKenna said, “then you two canfix plates and find your friends.”

McKenna led them up thefront porch and into the open door, where Drake was waiting forthem. He let out a growling sigh, like being apart for a few hourshad been pure torture. Bella rubbed the space over her heart again. She hoped her truemate looked at her like that.

Wherever he was.

She liked Kinley’senthusiasm, but Bella hardly doubted that she’d randomly come toAllen on a full moon and happen to run into her truemate. What thehell were the odds of that happening?

“Alpha Jason?” McKenna saidas they approached a male standing on a back deck with his armdraped over a female. “Alpha Cades, this is Kinley’s friend, BellaSullivan.”

“Nice to meet you,” AlphaJason said.

“Welcome,” Alpha Cadessaid. “I hope you’re hungry, we’ve got loads to eat. The mac andcheese is awesome, if I do say so myself.”

“Thanks for letting me comehang out,” she said.
