“Come on, isn’t the pointto find your Mr. Truemate? I sure as heck want to find mine. I’mnot sure he’s ever going to be here, but I’m not going to sit atthe table all night. And neither are you.”

“I just gothere.”

“And?” Kinley stood andheld out her hand.

“Let me get a drink first,”she said.

“Fine, then meet me on thefloor.”

Kinley hurried away todance. Bella looked at the bar, where a good-looking male leanedagainst it, nursing a beer. Her nerves kicked in, her wolf whiningin her head. This was where everything always went to hell, but shewasn’t going to sit at the table by herself.

Wasn’t she the daughter of the alpha? She might not be able to shift, but she was pretty and fun, and anyguy would be lucky to know her.

Gathering her courage, she pushed fromthe table and walked over to the bar.

The bartender, who was amember of the Were-Alliance, that helped shifters who were introuble, like a female who’d had to flee her people for one reasonor another, gave her a questioning look.

Since she’d been dropped off by Chrisand some of his friends who weren’t interested in being at thedance, she could have a drink as she wasn’t driving.

“Vodka cranberry,please.”

He nodded and made it.

“Hello.”

Bella turned to face the male who’dspoken. He had dark eyes and dark hair, his gaze running over herswiftly before returning to meet hers.

“Hi,” she said.

The bartender slid her drink over on acoaster and she took a sip.

“I’m Terry. FromAlcide.”

“Bella, fromRhone.”

He nodded. “Have you beencoming here awhile?”

“A few months. I don’tthink I’ve seen you before.”

“My brother wanted to comeand my dad said he couldn’t come alone, so here I am.”

They made small talk, which waspainfully like pulling teeth. He was cute but dull.

“So you’re a wolf?” heasked.

“Yes,” she said.

“Good. We could get out ofhere, if you’d like.”

“My place is an hour fromhere,” she said. “Isn’t Alcide like almost two hoursaway?”

He arched a brow. “Calmdown, princess, I meant the parking lot, not my house. I’m nottaking you home without a test drive. You’re pretty and you smellgood to my wolf, but let’s just take it a step at atime.”

Her whole being snapped to attentionat what he’d just said.

Before she could slap him or saysomething cutting, a male tapped him on the shoulder.

“Don’t waste your time, shecan’t shift.”
